Orange Hotel Ximen-Taipei

We stayed at the Orange Ximen hotel and highly recommend this accommodation. The rooms are clean, functional, and offer a nice view of the city. The ability to fill up your water bottle, make tea, or grab a snack in the common areas is a real advantage. The breakfast vouchers also allowed us to try several places, which we appreciated. The staff is very kind and the quality of service is impeccable. The neighborhood is also great, close to public transport and Ximending. We were able to easily visit the city from this hotel. We truly enjoyed our stay here and will gladly return.

I've been to Taipei several times and have been avoiding staying at Ximending because I don't like crowded places, but I wanted to stay by the MRT Green line this time as I will be coming back late from a concert at Taipei Arena, and Ximending was the only area that fit my budget. Orange Hotel's location is perfectly situated at the quiet yet still accessible side of Ximending. From Taoyuan Airport, we opted to ride the 1961A bus direct to Ximending. The bus stop was literally in front of the hotel! MRT Exit 1 is also a few meters away, and the bustling Exit 6 is just across the street. There's a Family Mart through a small street behind the hotel, and the hotel itself has a pantry with free snacks and drinks. They even have breakfast vouchers. Something novel for me was the QR code system for entering the room. I liked it! Not having a keycard is one less thing to worry about. Their staff were also nice and they all spoke English. The room was spacious and thoughtfully designed. The basic room amenities such as shampoo and body wash, slippers, and a hairdryer were provided. The water temperature and pressure were also good. I liked the space under the bed for a suitcase. There's also a bidet, though it's not Japanese style so the toilet seat was cold. There's also no room heater, but the blanket was thick enough to sleep comfortably during winter. If there's something they can improve on, I suggest to have more places to hang clothes in the room because four hooks just weren't enough. The back of the door does have a space for hooks. It was also a bit difficult to do one's make up at the only mirror in the room by the sink due to bad lighting in that area.

It was the worst travel experience. 1. I had to use the QR code to enter the room, and while I was resting in the room, someone else could open the door and enter. 2. The cleanliness of the rooms was very poor and there was a lot of dust. We asked for cleaning, but it wasn't done, and the housekeeping staff was doing nothing, just looking at the phone. 3. There were only a few staff with good service, the rest were not professional at all. I've never felt as short of money here in my life. I visited for my birthday trip and was really disappointed with this treatment.
