Talai Suites

I picked Talai Suites for a recent stay because I wanted to try a new hotel. It's a small place in a good location on Surawong Road directly across from Silom Soi Thaniya. The immediate area is well know for its Japanese bars, restaurants, and karaoke clubs. Upon arrival I was greeted by the very pleasant managers (owners?). Up the stairs with my bags (no elevator) I went. The room was small but clean, and at first glance had all the typical amenities. I soon learned that it is primarily a "short time" hotel for men that frequent Soi Thaniya. The bed had a groove worn into it down the middle, the entire hotel reeked of cigarette smoke, and I heard doors slamming and high heels clacking until early in the morning. Cable TV did not work very well & the WiFi was very spotty. Bathroom was fine, as were the linens (very nice for a short time place) Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel unless you are a "player" & smoke a lot. If so, it probably would do just fine.

This hotel is a japanese-owned hotel and thus its cleanliness is observed at all times. it is situated near sala daeng station in just about 5 minutes walk and is along the busy street just across phat phong so if you're a city lover like me who loves to stroll at night and take a quick break during the day trip, this is the best one. Though the hotel doesn't have a free breakfast so that's one thing. But there are a lot of restos beside it which you can widely choose from.

I really like this small new hotel in one of the best locations in Bangkok. The rooms are brand new and very comfortable. The rates are more than reasonable. I don't understand why anyone would claim it's "seedy" when it's anything but. Maybe instead of expecting a mint on the pillow for USD $37, they should stay at the Oriental for USD $400 per night. This is a budget hotel but it's anything but dirty. In fact it's a lot more comfortable than some more expensive hotels I've stayed at on my monthly trips to Bangkok. The rooms are small and there is no elevator. But despite being right in the middle of the nightlife action of Silom, it's amazingly quiet and I get a great night's sleep. Brand new LCD's, hot showers and real air conditioning. For less than 50 bucks.
