The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam

Overall, our stay at Berkeley Hotel was a mixed experience. While there were several staff members who provided excellent service, a number of issues significantly affected our overall impression. The room size was spacious, and the hot shower was excellent. However, we were surprised that the bathroom sink did not have hot water, which is unexpected for a five-star hotel. The bed was comfortable enough but not exceptional. Unfortunately, the room had very poor soundproofing. We could clearly hear guests walking past our room, conversations in the hallway, and doors slamming throughout the night. As a result, we were unable to get proper rest during our stay. What concerned us the most was that, on two separate occasions (July 22 and July 27, 2026, both around 11:30 PM), other guests attempted to access our room. On the first occasion, they repeatedly knocked and rang our doorbell. On the second, we opened the door after hearing a loud noise outside and found guests attempting to open it. This was both alarming and unacceptable. We do not understand how this could happen in a hotel of this standard. The room view was pleasant but not particularly memorable. The breakfast staff were generally friendly and helpful. We would especially like to thank Was, Dorothy, Aoy, Wan, Japan, Bennie, and Peace for their excellent service and positive attitude. However, communication was sometimes difficult because several staff members had limited English proficiency, making it challenging to ask questions or request assistance when the staff we normally spoke with were unavailable. Although Thai cuisine is not our personal preference, we genuinely enjoyed the hot soy milk with barley, red beans, chia seeds, and other toppings. We also noticed that some guests were allowed to enter the restaurant wearing bedroom slippers, pajamas, and other inappropriate attire, which seemed inconsistent with the standards expected at a five-star hotel. The laundry service was outstanding. Our clothes were returned beautifully cleaned and prepared. This was one of the highlights of our stay, and we have nothing but praise for the team. Housekeeping was satisfactory but could be improved. During our stay, the coffee table and the table with the power outlet were consistently left uncleaned, even after room servicing. Dinner Restaurant Experience Our biggest disappointment was our dinner experience at the restaurant near the hotel entrance. Unfortunately, the service provided by our waitress, Meow, fell well below the standard we expected from a five-star hotel. We believe she would greatly benefit from additional training in fine dining service. Rather than guiding the meal at an appropriate pace, she took our entire order—from starter to dessert—all at once. After we finished our starter, she immediately served the main course without asking whether we were ready. Guests should be given the opportunity to enjoy each course at their own pace, and it is standard practice to ask before serving the next course. The most disappointing incident occurred when only one Beef Rib entrée was served, even though we had ordered two. After we pointed out the mistake, we were told the second meal would arrive in three minutes. Instead, it took approximately twenty minutes. By then, the first meal had gone cold, and my fiancée had no choice but to eat alone while waiting. This completely ruined what should have been a special dinner together. While mistakes can happen, the lack of proper timing, communication, and coordination made the entire dining experience extremely disappointing. Equally disappointing was our interaction with the restaurant manager, Mint. After returning to our room, we spent nearly an hour trying to contact her regarding the incident. When we finally reached her, she stated that she could not hear us because it was noisy, said she could not talk, and abruptly ended the call. We found this response unprofessional and disrespectful, particularly from someone in a management position. This dinner was intended to help make up for the other issues we experienced during our stay. Instead, it became the most disappointing part of our visit. We sincerely hope Berkeley Hotel provides additional customer service and hospitality training for both Meow and Manager Mint, as their handling of the situation fell far below the level of service expected from a five-star establishment. Finally, we would like to express our sincere thanks to Rainny, the Assistant Manager. She was kind, patient, attentive, and genuinely listened to our problems/concerns. We truly appreciated her professionalism and her sincere efforts to improve our experience. Her excellent service was one of the few bright spots during our stay.

Great hotel ideal for spending a few days with the family, they have family rooms that are comfortable in terms of space.

I am very disappointed with my experience, especially since I have stayed at The Berkeley Hotel more than five times over the years. I booked and paid for a 55 m² room, but upon arrival I was informed that only a 35 m² room was available due to a technical mismatch between the hotel’s system and Agoda. This meant my family was given a room approximately 20 m² smaller than the one we specifically selected and paid for. Regardless of whether the issue originated with Agoda or the hotel, the result was that we did not receive the accommodation we booked. For a stay of several nights, this is a significant difference in comfort and value. I expected a much better solution considering this was not my mistake. As a loyal returning guest, I had hoped the hotel would work with Agoda to provide a comparable or upgraded room rather than leaving us with a significantly smaller room. Unfortunately, this experience has left me disappointed and has made me reconsider staying at The Berkeley Hotel in the future.
