I picked this resort on purpose for its more 'jungle' and 'camping' like experience. Its beautiful wooden building is gorgeous and the main receptionist Natt is delightful and so helpful. He looked after us as if we are his own family. The rest is very basic but charming. Yes, the television is ancient, but surely you don't come all the way to Chiang Mai to watch telly? The bedrooms are a good size, beds clean and comfortable, shower over bath tub is working, although this could have been better. Fridge in room and wardrobe and lovely wooden dressing table. Also small balcony. The surroundings are pretty with a communal hut area where you can sit and eat, or just be near the small pool. Breakfast is also served in a room nearby, if you opted for breakfast. Shoes are asked to be removed when going up the stairs to bedroom areas, which I think is nice. The rooms have thin walls, so be aware that you can hear fellow travellers talking and walking when passing your room. The resort is situated on a main road, with no street lights so be aware when walking there in the dark. Lots of little restaurants and shops (Tesco Lotus) nearby which is convenient. Bring mosquito repellent, you will need it!!

We travelled for one month mostly in guest house and for the last night we choosed a resort for a little pleasure... What a resort !! This is the worst place I've been so far ! You can see in Booking.com so beautiful pictures, they say bath with bubble, tv, nice rooms with nice beds. All those pictures are FAKE ! The bath is super old and dirty, bathroom smell so bad, the tv and fridge are older than my grandma for sure !! When you take the key off fridge turn off too... When we checked out I asked for the boss, of course she is hidding in her room, let the staff take all the complaints from the customers. I think this person has no respect for anyone !! She should be ashamed to earn money from people ! Advice : just stop looking for this place RUNAWAY !! There is better place with respectful people !

This 40 room hotel, set in a couple of traditional Thai teak buildings and a newer motel-type wing could do with some maintenance and upgrading. Our room in the main building had a big bathroom with a wobbly faucet and slow draining sink but a good shower and lots of hot water. The bed was rock hard, the TV ancient, the AC temperamental, but the room was large with a tiny balcony. On the plus side, the staff were delightful and helpful, the large grounds were green and shady and the pool was clean and refreshing. The plastic deck chairs (4) were in various states of decay; use with caution! Baan Thai is not close to the old city, so you will spend a lot of time in songtaews (red mini buses) or taxis getting to all the tourist sites. There is a nearby Tesco Express and the ever-present 7/11 as well as a tiny coffee shop, All Day Coffee, with good cappuccinos and lattes. For lunch there is a gai yang (grilled chicken) place with sticky rice and som tam (green papaya salad) just down the road.
