Chiang Mai Garden

I recently stayed for 3 nights in Sept. If you are an ultra-picky person about amenities or uber-cleanliness, then this may not be the place for you. However, for the intrepid traveler, who is looking for a quality place at a reasonable price, this was a great find. Location is ideal: in the heart of the old town, just around the corner from Wat Chedi Luang. Easy walking distance to several Wats and even the Night Bazaar. Decent breakfasts are included. A very nicely decorated and quaint lobby and courtyard. Currently, upgrades are being done to the rooms to make them more chic. For my stay, the accomodations were quite adequate: I don't care to spend my vacations inside hotel rooms anyway. The shining star of this place is the genuine sincerity of the staff. They go out of their way to assist you. The woman @ the front desk greeted us every day. She helped us w/ all our translations, helped book our tours, prevented us from getting scammed, flagged us a cab to get us the local rate. She even walked to the pharmacy for me, to get me cough medicine! I am so grateful for the hospitality we received. You could pay ten times the price, and maybe find a place more luxurious, but you would still not get the sincerity and local service that is common at Ratchamanka. Thanks so much!

This boutique hotel is close to the BP and was recommended by them when they were full (a conference) on our 3rd night. Offered us a choice of rooms, we took the 2nd (at 1,500bht p.n) as it was larger. Bed was supremely comfortable, the a/c worked well and the bathroom (more of a wet room) was fine. Breakfast was tasty in a clean, tidy and exotic lobby, with a fridge selling cold drinks and snacks too. Internet in Lobby. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Man on reception clambered a the tree in the small courtyard to bring down some fruit for my partner to eat. Amusing and nice. Would stay again.
