Kikie's House

Kikie was the sweetest person we met on our entire trip. She is sincere, friendly, and very funny. She will welcome you with a smile and point you towards whatever you are looking for in the city. She has experience with trekking and working with elephants in the area and she has friends who do other things like cooking classes. I would recommend you have Kikie do the bookings for you because she can guarantee the businesses are good and get you the cheapest prices. The room we stayed in was private, spacious, and had good air conditioning. The location is very good as it is inside the ancient city area. The only complaint would be that the shower is not the best as the water is a little smelly and when you shower the whole bathroom gets wet. Overall would highly recommend staying at Kikie's. She is a lovely lady that wants you to enjoy your stay. Also, she will do you laundry for 40 bat which was very handy.

Qua sleeping you get what you pay for. Cheap accommodation, so don’t expect everything to be perfectly working. Qua hospitality, information and location, you get much more. Kikie and Marco are very nice hosts; welcoming, open and giving good advice! Also good place to hang out with other backpackers.

So, I would just like to start off by saying that KiKi was very helpful when we wanted to plan trips etc. However... they have two dogs, one is fairly old and won't bother you, the other is horrible. It bit my friend but luckily her bag was protecting her, it growls at people and is not welcoming at all. Further to this dog situation, the bed I stayed in had fleas. The dorm was dirty, the bathroom never got cleaned, we were without toilet roll for 2 days and we had a drunk guy come into our room at 2am into an all girls dorm... when there was an all male dorm next door with spare beds. I was very angry about the flea bites, I was covered in them. The room was 'steamed' which to hell it was! We checked out the next day. Don't believe the photos on hostel world either, selling you dreams. Other than that, good location :)
