Sitha Boutique House

We ordered through a different site a hotel named"the cottage". In the pictures and for the charge they wanted it looked great, so we booked it. When we arrived at the cottage there was no one there. So we tried calling the owners but still nothing. We ended up waiting for him for 40 mins as he accidentally showed up. After he came, he couldn't see the reservation, meaning he didn't know we were coming! Apparently this cottage hotel is a new hotel that hasn't opened yet for visitors and the owner is the same person as for the sitha hotel. He said he has a spare room for us up on the 3rd floor (no elevator). When we got to the room, the room was not ready for guests- there were no towels and more. Furthermore we asked him if we could leave our bags at the hotel for a couple of days as we went on a treck for a couple of days, he said sure I'll be here in the morning. Of course he wasn't, we ended up going to a different hotel early in the morning and left our things there. Overall the owner felt really bad about what had happened but still we were pissed as we received something we didn't pay for, moreover the room wasn't made for guests and the overall experience was terrible for us.

We were to originally stay for 7 days but upon arrival Khun Art (manager/owner) informed us that we would not be staying where we thought? Not sure what happen with original booking but he informed us that we would staying down the street? So we moved a few doors down the street into a brand new place (now called "The Cottage") for the night. No big deal as we were tiered and just wanted to get some sleep...we will figure it out in the morning. Morning came, we talked with Art and were offered to move back to other hotel, a few feet away, or stay where we were...so we stayed. Our biggest complaint was that there was no wifi...he installed super strong wifi on our 3rd day which was just fine with us as a great wifi/coffee shop was a 2 minute walk. Again, no big deal. Here is what my wife and I have concluded...GREAT location that can't be beat! Walk to everything, on quite Soi or street, laundry drop off right around the corner and a charming, genuine and honest host who tries very hard to please. Not only did we extend our stay but shared a nice evening of talking and drinking (Art happens to enjoy red wine...as do we) in his kitchen for a couple of hours. We highly recommend his hotel(s) to anyone coming to Chiang Mai for a week, month or permanent relocation...such as ourselves. He operates 2 location feet from each other..Sitha Boutique & The Cottage, where we stayed.

We booked 6 weeks in advance in this small hotel to stay close to our friends, who live nearby. When we arrived, we were told something about mistake and overbooking. We knew that already from our friends, because they had been there to announce our arrival late evening. We hadn't been informed by the hotel! The owner put us in a steril hostel on a mainroad. Thus we couldn't sleep all night. When we complained next day, the owner made the calculation how much we payed for his hotel and what he could find for us immediately without spending more. We ended up in a small guesthouse, that was at least clean and close to our friends, although they had room service just once a week and definitely costed him less than what we payed originally. When after 3 days we should have moved back to him, he "convinced" us to stay there. Fact is and was confirmed by our friends: our room was given away to give place for a group of young Australians. And to rent out the room later again was more conveniant than giving it finally to us. When our friends went there, they recognized the owner from the hotel he had had some years before in front of their home and had had equal problems with him already in connection of renting a room for friends.
