We fell in love with this place last year when staying at another hotel and dining at Katilya. The staff were nice enough to show me a room back then and I booked for this year. It did not disappoint. The grounds are huge and green and the reception area is huge and rustic. The restaurant is reasonably priced and the food is really good. Pool is gorgeous. Best of all are the rooms and the staff. The smallest room (suite - they are all suites) is 90m2 with a huge bathroom and stunning views. The staff cannot do enough for you. They are polite and helpful and speak surprisingly good English. Shout out to Hero and Biu and the lovely Thai/American manageress who all helped me no-end to source the scent they use in the hotel (which I now use at home and think of Katilya every time I use it!) Will definitely return

We had a very large room and a nice balcony with a view. It is wonderfully quiet, you can watch white squirrels, swim in the pool a few lengths or relax in the warm jacuzzi. There is also a small gym with dumbbells as well as a playroom for (small) children. The restaurant offers many vegetarian options and the food is very delicious! In the evening, the fireplace burns and invites you for a drink. The reception is not unpaid for hiking guests; however, there is the possibility to start hiking right from the hotel and thus hike to the tea plantation of Phu Chasai, for example. Alternatively, the reception can arrange a jungle trekking (this is very adventurous; good shoes are a must). Katiliya Park is more of a small zoo with birds and deer. The village is within walking distance, but it all goes along the road and along the way there can also be aggressive dogs (so no recommendation). The hotel offers a free shuttle from the resort to the park.

We stayed 1 night at Katiliya Mountain Resort & Spa, a luxury resort with mountain views that brings contemporary elegance to a land steeped in history, surrounded by verdant forests and nestled in the misty hills of Chiang Rai. We enjoyed our spacious suite with balcony overlooking lush valleys, serene lakes and forest-covered hills, shrouded in Chiang Rai fog at dawn, offering unique and fantastic panoramic views. We enjoyed a Standard Suite, spacious, elegant, comfortable, with lots of privacy and a fabulous view of the forest; made in Thai style allowed us to immerse ourselves in nature, while offering us modern comforts. Our suite (like all the others) has a private balcony overlooking the lush vegetation, a king-size bed (huge!) and a cozy seating area. Large bathroom, equipped with separate bath and shower, double sink (one for me and one for my wife) plus high quality toiletries for even greater comfort. There is also free wi-fi, mini-bar, international TV. All exceptional from 5 Stars as it deserves. Unfortunately, the final grade 3 is heavily penalized by an embarrassing kitchen service (Rating 1), but definitely not up to the standards of the Resort’s clientele. We stayed there on the night of December 28 and we could not dine in the restaurant (very nice – breakfast the next morning was Excellent), despite the fact that there were no more than twenty diners / guests present at the time we sat at the table around 7.30 pm. In fact, when ordering we are told that we should wait about forty minutes: many given the diners present, but we accept. After about twenty minutes we are served the 2 beers ordered, while for a soup and 3 other dishes we have to wait. In the meantime we notice that in a couple of tables near us there is a little mood, we see dishes served in random order, but not everyone eats. After more than 60 minutes we decide to ask for an account of the delay and we are told that the orders are many and ours still have to wait: but as I wonder, there are few people at the tables. However, at 8.40 pm (well over 1 hour after the order) we are served the Soup that, for hunger, we devour in a very short time. At this point (about 8.50 pm) I decide to cancel the other 3 dishes of our order (in the meantime the father of a family sitting in the next table, in turn had reprimanded the waiters), I do the bill (about 1,000 THB) and go to the reception to complain and settle the bill. Considering my grievances, the reception staff apologizes and decides to offer us the 2 beers and soup consumed. I would therefore like to thank the staff at the Reception, who I invite to understand and resolve the problems that have arisen at the restaurant.
