Du Doi Suay Resort

Self service and many things looks old. Large areas which most of them are empty spaces. If the areas are managed well then the resort could have more beautiful areas and better view + more guests. Could barely see a staff working.

When this was first built this would have been a wonderful hotel. We had booked for 2 nights, but stayed only one, as one of the rooms we booked had a few issues. The rooms are a good size, but be prepared for a very very firm mattress, which we actually slept ok on. The restaurant didn't seem to be open on the night we stayed, I presume because there was a large group who took it over. The staff were helpful, but you could just tell it lacked good management. Breakfast was good. The view of the hills was wonderful and the grounds were nice, if somewhat overgrown. There appeared to be rats running over the roof, but I expect such things in a rural setting. I think that you could get a better hotel for similar money.

We checked in at about 10 pm, and found the water heater not working. We called the resort staff who came and replaced it with a working unit. After the staff left, we detected gas in the room, and suspected that there could have been a leak as gas water heater was being used. We called the staff back again, and the staff checked and confirmed there was a gas leak. We requested to change room, and by then it was already about 2 am. In addition, there were gaps in the bathroom wall and floor which allowed the cold air from outside to seep in, and the temperature was about 10°C during the night. It was pretty cold taking a shower at night. For breakfast, refills for coffee was not allowed as well. Overall not too impressed with the stay.
