Bluetel Hotel

This hotel is for rural Thai only. We drove by looking for a different hotel but it had both roads blocked to it’s location. This was just off the road and looked ok. 450 baht but we wanted three twin beds so it was 650 baht, which included free breakfast. It was 7 PM and we were tired of driving. By the way, the TripAdvisor map location for this place is wrong. It’s the only bluetel in Kalasin. After a couple of hours we began to see a lot of small flying bugs. Not bitting bugs but annoying. The 10 yr old looking towels stunk of mold. The A/C was very loud but did cool the room after a few hours. No AC in the hallways, restaurant or lobby. The wi-fi was sporadic and the slowest we have used in Thailand. Seems like they have the same cook from 4 yrs ago. For breakfast it was make your own white toast and self serve coffee. We had to ask for eggs. Which was two rubbery eggs with chicken sausage baked in a small aluminum pan and served in the pan. They called it an omelette? The bottom of the eggs looked like Feta cheese, so we declined eating. Photos not worth the time.

Not a place to brag about when room rates start from 390 baht (£8). My wife and I checked in after dark having booked a de luxe room and paid upon check-in. Once inside the room (which we had to find ourselves) and the lights switched on, bugs of all shapes and sizes started to appear from under the balcony door which we had to block with a towel and then began a killing spree to get rid of them. After that a shower with low water pressure and into a bed which creaked every time one of us moved. We wondered what a standard room must be like. Breakfast (ABF) consisted of two rubbery fried eggs and a chicken sausage plus toast and coffee you made yourself. The hotel is far from the town centre (about 5 kms) and about 200metres from the prison, that alone would have called for a security man in the car park, but not here. Nobody to help with luggage from car to room and vice versa, so in general no service at all. Not a hotel we could recommend.

The building is Thai rural town style, a little tired but spacious and comfortable. The staff are helpful and friendly though few have much English. Smiles and sign language help ;) It was quiet and the food we had (at a function in the hotel meeting rooms) was delicious, copious and well prepared.
