Baan Suan Fon

Stayed here for 4 nights as part of my Starfish Thailand trip. It's right on the banks of the River Kwai, which you'd expect. The rooms are average. The hotel lobby and some rooms were occupied by thousands of moths one night, just after a storm. Obviously the lights attracted them. Personally, I enjoyed killing hundreds of moths before bed but I know most people wouldn't. The pool is fantastic. You can see the river from the pool which is good. The staff didn't speak much, if any English though which is a downside.

This is such a cute hotel, clean and spacious rooms, nice hot showers, lovely pool! It's about 15-20 minutes taxi away from the main town, but you can get it cheap if you do want to go in. The only downside is the staff. They were either not there, uncommunicative, or just plain useless. One meal time we waited an hour for our food and when we asked where it was, the lady hasn't even taken the order to the kitchen. We got our money back, told her to forget the food and got no apology. Lovely place to stay, just don't expect service of any sort!

This resort has lots of potential. It is really run down to the ground. The maintenance upkeep is non existing whereby the location is very tropical with a large river-side location. The land is huge and the way the resort is laid out is not so good. We stayed in the main building which has two floor and is the furthest from the river. The rooms are REALLY run down and actually not worth being labeled a hotel room. The beds are shot and the linden/towels are grey and spotty! The bathroom is nasty and smelly and so is the rusted mini bar fridge which has only two bottles of water inside. The TV as well as the programs are below any decent standard and the room is. It very clean at all. There are not "black-out-curtains and the bright lights from the hallway shine into the room...so do not expect to get a good night sleep. The pillows are from a other age and hard like a "brick"! The breakfast is not good and for food and coffee...could not eat anything nor drink the coffee. The rooms are expensive for what they are at 1000.-/night. The pool is also old and not well maintained and the water quality and appearance is questionable...we did not use it. Service is as expected but overall friendly!
