Sunanta Bungalow

Not suitable for three adults.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sunanta. The bungalow was comfortable, clean, and well equipped, with good air-con and fan. The terrace/balcony overlooks a lovely little garden and the other bungalows (8 in total, so nice and quiet, 2 of which were rented by people working on Lanta), and is set back from the main road, off a little dirt road that goes from the road to the beach. Some of the other bungalows had another terrace at the back facing towards the beach and sea - ours didn’t, but did have an extra room that faced that way - no furniture in there though. Perhaps could be used as an extra room for families if they added a bed? Wifi good enough, and the bed comfortable enough, although harder than I would prefer personally, as is usual for Thailand. The owners/staff there are really nice - they organised scooter hire for us, although unfortunately couldn't find us semi-autos - they're a little hard to come by on the island it seems. It was nice not to have to leave passports or licences with them as a deposit. Everyone always ready with a smile, and kept the place clean and tidy. It's well placed at the end of Khlong Khong Beach, and an easy walk to some great food/bars in either direction. Highly recommend Kunda Vegetarian on the main road for amazing food even if you're not a veggie (we're not!) - bit expensive my Thai standards but so worth it - check out their reviews on Tripadvisor. Thai Smile very good for Thai food, & Lanta Meeting Point on the beach great for sunset cocktails. The beach isn't great - long and pretty enough, but hard underfoot as it's more shells and dead coral than sand, and with quite a few rocks, too. There are many more beautiful beaches heading south though - we spent half a day at Khlong Jark which was gorgeous. All in all we had a lovely, relaxing time there, and considered it good value for money - we'd stay there again if we returned to Khlong Khong.

I felt as if I was staying in an apartment rather than a bungalow. It appeared (because of the good value) that there were many guests staying for extended holiday. Six weeks or more. The room was well kept with a wardrobe and multiple drawers and a desk, so in other words, you could be comfortable here for a lengthy stay. It seems as if the locals were not familiar with the hotel and its location. I don't know if the name changed recently? The owner was nice; she did not go out of her way and provide me with any services above and beyond other than the day of my departure. At this point, she talked to the coordinator of my transportation on the phone to clarify why they were not timely. No pool and a 5 to 10 minute walk down a gravel driveway to beach.
