K.L. House Aonang

We traveled as a group of 5 and rented 2 rooms (one standard air-conditioned & one fan room) for 4 nights on Feb 5-9/18. Both rooms had fridges. We chose this place as it was a decent price and still walking distance to beautiful Ao Nang beach, which took about 20 minutes, but was pleasant as the walk has stores, 7-11s & restaurants along the way (even a McDonalds & Subway if you’re in to that). The staff were nice and helpful and arranged our transportation to Koh Tao (bus & ferry) which cost the same everywhere, but we were able to negotiate a cheaper price for the 4 island boat tour down at the beach. Our budget “fan room” was the dreaded room near the entrance & reception with the window facing the interior hall that many reviews complain about, but it was actually pretty nice and the noise wasn’t too bad (dependent on other guests and how loud they decide to be when returning in the middle of the night). The air-conditioned room on the 3rd the rest of our family stayed in was obviously quieter. The rooms were clean and had nice bathrooms. There was a nice common area deck with table & chairs facing the street where we relaxed each night playing cards and having a few drinks (we really enjoyed the 7-11 right next door as we simply grabbed a round of beers in between card hands). There were nice budget restaurants all around and even a market to the north (opposite the beach) in front of the Muslim temple where we were able to get some street food (great chicken on a stick). I’d definitely consider staying here again if I return to Ao Nang.

Basic hotel in a good location near the beach, restaurants and night market. However it is very noisy as the window faces out onto the corridor and gatherings are held in the lobby. Service could be improved.

Stayed for three nights here. Booked superior room which means there is an actually window and balcony with mountain view (which is obscured by the wires, check the picture). The pictures on the website are nothing like the reality (standard rooms have windows to the hallway not outside). Very basic hotel and needs upgrading, no safe in the room (there are lockers by the reception and you need to use a little padlock to lock them), there are ants in the room, a lot of ants. The lady at the receiption is friendly and can help with ticket bookings for tours and transfers. Would not recommend to stay here.
