Phetkasem Hotel

This hotel is a pleasant blast from the past. It has large rooms with polished teak floors that are comfortable and airy. The Wi-Fi is good and rooms also have hotwater and a fridge. Staff in the hotel are friendly although limited English is spoken. Most rates include a simple breakfast.

This is an old family hotel that has been recently (2012) renovated so you get the standard modern amenities along with a slight retro touch - 60's style chair in the room and rattan furniture in the open living space downstairs. Very clean but small rooms although the hotel is quite spacious. Located next to two main roads but my room was at the back and I could see the palace on the hill. Immediate surroundings not so attractive. Phetburi town is charming and there are loads of temples and royal residences to visit.

This hotel is situated directly at the highway and about 1 km away from the hill with the king's palace. Some rooms even have a nice view to that. When going out in the evening there is not very much close by except one or 2 small restaurants and a 7-11. The man at the reception did NOT speak any English at all and was also obviously not very keen on renting any rooms. But the woman coming in later was more friendly. The lobby looks quite strange and is half open to the street, but all is very clean, as well as the rooms. The rooms are not very big but are well equipped with minibar, A/C, fan, en-suite bathroom, chairs, table and free Internet via W-LAN.
