La Paloma Hotel

Pre booked with Agoda so had paid when we turned up otherwise I would have done a u turn. We were the only people there with only one staff who held her head in dispair over the aircon. Old musty smelling hotel and rooms that smelt of old socks. Air con didn't work in all three rooms and despite complaining nothing done, in desperation I took the two fans from reception just to get some air movement. Rusty water from taps,lights flickering in corridors , cobwebs everywhere, mouse droppings in room and on tables, swimming pool that had been empty for at least three years, no bars, dining or any facilities. Market food was being sold from front car park as no guests. Must have been grand in the old days when all the pictures shown in the brochure were taken. Was so glad to leave. Do yourself a big big favour and stay away.

Due to departing Ayutthaya a day earlier than planned we needed a hotel at very short notice. Our pre-booked hotel for Phitsanulok didn't have any vacancies for that night so the La Paloma Hotel had to suffice for the night. The hotel is large and has the structure and facilities that were probably grand and ornate in years past, however time and maintenance issues have seen it wither from any glory. There was virtually no occupancy and felt like staying in the hotel depicted in "The Shining". After Ayutthaya though it felt like 5 star. Breakfast was poor, rooms spacious if not a little musty and décor / cleanliness bearable.

Circa 1980's decor Cold shower Miserable welcome Musty room light bulbs missing Clearly neglected really dont bother!! It really is the most forgetable hotel ive ever stayed in Im travelling by motorbike from bangkok to Nan and decided to pick this as my overnight stop
