Hotel itself is average but: clean, away from the very noisy places, VERY friendly staff, small pool but good to cool down after a busy day. No breakfast: so what, plenty of places to eat around. 15 minutes walk from center or the beach: so what, we never walked, rented a scooter for €5 a day (125 ccm, good for two, even on the hills) and explored the island, rode to Kata for the night, etc. If you do not want a fancy place but a clean hotel at a good price, you can take it.

Good little hotel, nice rooms (if a little dated) and good AC, shower and AC and free water. Pool area is great and hotel is located away from all the noise. Room could have been cleaned better and beware theres lots of stairs to climb to get to rooms. Woman on reception was a bit aggressive. Would recommend if you are after a cheap room with a pool. 20 minute walk to busy beach and great restaurant called elephant cafe along the road.

We have stayed at warika 6 years ago and have come back again. We like the location for a lot of the reasons others don't. Yes it is set back from the main strip so you have to get a taxi to be amongst the busy parts, in our eyes that's a good thing as we like to get to bed a decent time. It is set in the jungle so expect a few more creepy crawlies, our tv didn't work, but then I didn't come on holiday to watch tv. Our toilet blocked, but we were the first to stay in this room for a long time, we came in "maintenance month" which is just off the back of a very quiet period. The place could do with a little spruce up but in comparison to the costs, it works out around £15 a night which is silly money and not much more than what a backpacker would pay to stay at one of these hostel type thingys that they stay in. Oh, it has A nice pool. Overall it's hard to fault warika, if you want more than this, pay more money and stay at a couple of the nice 5 star hotels along Karon beachfront. But seriously, don't listen to bad reviews about smells of sewage- that's just Thailand-it smells of poo in general really, get used to it or go somewhere else ;)
