Hua Hin Markwin Lodge Hotel

Stayed here several times and it gives great "bang for your buck". Good pool and reasonable breakfast even though I really just have coffee & toast for breakfast unless its been a big night out. Good rooms clean and comfortable bed and good pillows (very important for me). re the turtles in the pool theyu are painted on the bottom of the pool but at first glimpse they look real. It is also quiet at night here giving you a good nights sleep on Soi 88. Close to international restaurants and some nice friendly small bars. Small gym next to the pool if that's what floats your boat.

Overall it was a pleasant stay at this Hotel The room was clean with a classic decoration. Staff was very helpfully The only thing that need to concern is the bath room, a bit dirty and old. Need more maintenance on this point.

We stayed here for 3 weeks and so eventually it became like a home away from home for us. The hotel looks great from the outside with Thai touches that make you feel very welcome. The interior however is a bit of a shocker - a lot of moisture damage in the bathrooms, stains on the bedding, furniture outdated and peeling wallpaper. If it wasn't for the price and location, I would have been horrified but at the end of the day we opted to stay in a more local area rather than the city centre in a chain hotel. The above becomes part of the hotels weird charm and after a couple of days we stopped noticing the horrors. At the end of the day, the room was clean in terms of dirt and grime and that's what counts if you are out most of the day anyway. WiFi - no WiFi in rooms BUT you can buy a card at the reception which allows you to tap into the local Wifi. Yes you have to spend and extra £2.50 but it's valid for 30 days. Location - 5 minutes away from city centre by motorbike. Reception can always call for a taxi/tuk-tuk as well. It's located on a street with supermarkets, hairdressers, massage parlours and restaurants - what more do you want! Service - nice enough staff. Never said hello to us once in the 20 days we stayed but if you say hello yourself they will always greet you back. Would recommend for people who are not too fussed about the beach not being at walking-distance and who are able to hire a motorbike. If you want to be more central, near the beach then this isn't really the place for you.
