The Ammata Lanta Resort is a very unique and charming property, entirely in wood in the local style, almost a museum in the common areas with splendid paintings, works of art, and objects related to Buddhist culture. Very charming and scenic indoor and outdoor areas, outside the standards, the internal restaurant is very beautiful and well-maintained, as is the one on the lake, with outdoor tables and live music. Varied and good breakfast, impeccable service, and generally very courteous and helpful staff. The common pool is also beautiful and charming. Unfortunately, however, my experience in the villa was much less positive. I had booked on Agoda 9-10 months earlier for 2 adults and 2 children and had asked for clarification on the accommodation in advance, because the photos showed a double bed and a sofa in the living room. The communications, which I have kept, had not clarified for me unequivocally how the children would be accommodated. Upon arrival, I was asked for a supplement of 1,000 THB for the extra bed. The extra bed was not present anyway and the sofa bed was not even prepared: no sheets or pillow. Considering that the reservation was for four people, I believe that this aspect should have been clarified better and organized before arrival, especially after my advance requests. I had also chosen and paid for a villa with a private pool. Upon our arrival, the pool was stagnant and dirty and the filtration was turned off. I had to personally look for the controls in the technical room and reactivate it. Even the fountain at the entrance of the villa was empty, with mold and mud at the bottom, absolutely neglected. For a property of this category, it is, in my opinion, a concrete problem and not a simple impression. The general external maintenance also presents several visible critical issues: discolored and deteriorated wood, some parts that seem damaged by termites or insects, a panoramic tower closed because it was deemed dangerous and in need of renovation. Even the entrance door to the reception needs to be restored and treated. The contrast is therefore evident: a property of great charm and aesthetic value, but with rooms, villas, and external parts that urgently need extraordinary maintenance and renovation. Including some statues that were broken or crumbling in some places. It is a real shame, because the potential would be enormous. As for the planes, the location is objectively on the landing path and they pass at a low altitude. In my experience, however, never with a high frequency and even less so to prevent sleeping, as I read in some reviews. In conclusion, this is absolutely not a hotel to be dismissed: staff, breakfast, restaurants, setting, and internal common areas deserve very positive ratings. However, the problems encountered in the villa and the state of maintenance of several external parts of the property are too concrete to be able to consider the experience fully up to a 5-star standard. I hope that the ownership intervenes soon: with a serious renovation, this place could return to being truly exceptional.

Hotel close to the airport, maybe too close because there is crazy noise every 5 minutes; we know it since it is next to the airport, but we expect a minimum of insulation. The first weird thing is that upon arriving at the hotel, nobody, well almost nobody, no guests, you would think you were in an abandoned place. Our room was rather spacious but aging. No phone in the room, a TV with no channels. A feeling of a hotel left as it was without any refurbishment, the staff very pleasant and helpful and kind. Do not trust the photos on the websites because they do not reflect the reality of the general state of the place.

We have driven past it very often. Now we finally wanted to try it out. One night in Bangkok at the Ammata Lanta Resort to pick up our granddaughter and our son the next day. For this, we had booked a pool villa with a great view of the lake and sunset. This is a cool hotel with a special ambiance. (An incredible number of antiques that the owner displays here.) It is located very close to the airport, ideal for plane spotters; the airplanes fly directly over our bungalow or over the restaurant during their landing approach. There are also shopping malls nearby, of course. Everything is very appealing and very relaxing. The staff is super friendly. We will definitely come back here again.
