Double Duke Bungalows

I keep coming back here. It's a small, family run hotel. Very good food and sweet family. They are very nice and helpful if you have questions. The bungalows are small but fine for me. You can ask to see the room before deciding. The only thing I did not like is the beds are very firm and a bit lumpy. During my entire trip I found the beds in Thailand to be very hard (no matter what hotel I stayed in). Next time I might bring a mattress pad or some foam. But I really like staying here and the beach is beautiful! The "catch of the day" dinner is so good! You order 1 day ahead and they go fishing for your dinner the next day!

I have been there with a friend of mine after travelling around and we wanted to get some rest aside the busy touristic places of the Island.After a warm Welcome we had the Chance to get the Bungalow directly at the beach - it was newly renovated with modern Air Con + a refridgerator + huge double bed + absolutely clean and the best view you can imagine if you like to sleep directly at the beach. Another Highlight: the 2 hammocks on the terrace of our Bungalow which allowed us to relax with the beach in front. The cute little bar+restaurant was directly next to the Bungalow. Very friendly staff + very good food and Drinks. The owner of Double Duke, a very friendly older Thai Lady, took great care of us and her dog Bobby did as well. Overall a great stay in the North West of Koh Phangan, where you have nice beaches and the chance to relax with less Tourism, if you like to go out the center thong sala is easily accessible for ex. via motorbike within 20 minutes.

Looking for somewhere entirely different we stumbled upon Dubble (Double) Dukes by accident. Don’t rush! You’ll get the chance to order a beer eventually. Seize the moment to order a large Chang (crazy named cocktails etc are available). Don’t rush. Sit and watch the gentle waves of Salad beach roll in. Don’t rush. Order a Thai meal cos it’s what they do best in Thailand (call me old fashioned but...) and then spend a couple of hours chillin, talking with a pal (or two if you’re popular), people watching, listening to the relaxing music and eating the food that finally arrives and tastes superb. Then order one more beer and while your at it have a swing in the hammock and count your lucky stars xxx P.S. As we paid and left, the owner asked us if we would like a taxi. “No thanks, we’re only heading over to the next bay” and we set off walking. As we reached the main road, a pickup pulled up beside us an the bar owner invited us to hop in the back and took us the next mile. More counting of lucky stars xxx
