Thaniza Beachfront Resort

Ive just checked out of this place and as lovely as the people are, the place is a bit of a dive. The beach of course is beautiful but lots of rubbish scattered over it which is a shame. On the first night I came back, walked up to my room in the pitch black dark (thank god smart phones have torches) through a bit of forestry and some really dodgy, tiled and wet stairs and when I got to my room I switched the light switch and all of the electrics blew on me! It was quite late so no one in reception was around and it massively creeped me out. The next day I reported the electrics to reception and to be fair to them they were fixed by 6pm so before it got dark, but in fixing the electrics they also took my kettle away?? Today I've checked out (check out is 12noon) and at 8am I was woken up by the cleaner wanting to clean the room and get me out apparently! I checked the check out time and thought sod it I'm not checking out early just because they want to clean, but once the cleaner left it appeared that my WiFi and air conditioning had been cut off anyway, so I did just leave. The lady running this place is lovely, and she speaks very good English but I do think some basic hotelier skills are needed here... Like perhaps not taking kettles away when you're paying to have one in your room, cleaning the room thoroughly after the person has checked out, and not cutting off the air-conditioning and WiFi when you're fully entitled to it still. I am a solo traveller and not one to hire bikes, so I wouldn't recommend this place if you're on your own or have any mobility issues. There is quite a steep hill down to the resort (which is no entry to cars) and the stairs up the the rooms are very dodgy. Every single baht bus taxi I got from the town to the hotel and back has cost me 100bht so if you want a cheap, convenient place then this probably isn't the one! I wouldn't stay again and wouldn't recommend unless you're in a group and have your own transport.

Me and my husband stayed there for three days. The room wasnt pleasant, but the staff amazing. The base cover of the bed where so dirty, full of black stains. Dust collected on top of tv that was there for a while. Aircon couldnt change temperature, so was freezing cold the whole time. On the other hand, the staff was so helpfull and friendly. When we asked for a taxi, it was there within a few minutes, when we asked for a motorcycle to hire, it was there within minutes. The view was so nice. The day before check out, the lady of the resort said she can meet us earlier for breakfast if needed that was sosweet of her. For the prize we payed, it was all good for the stay. Thank you

We had a wonderful stay at Thaniza! The staff running this hostel were so kind, helpful and accommodating!! Firstly, they allowed us to check into our room VERY EARLY (since we had taken the night ferry over and arrived onto Koh Phangan at around 6 am)! They did our laundry for us at a VERY reasonable cost, and folded it all for us and put it back in our room by the next day! We didn't even have to worry about a thing! They were super helpful in explaining to us about the map of the island, things to do and where to go, how to go about renting a scooter, etc! The rooms had a good view and were very clean! Although it's called a hostel, it is much more like a hotel! Thanks for the great experience on Koh Phangan! :)
