Calm Beach Resort

We have planned to stay there for 3 nights but due to hygiene standards there this was not possible at all! We have checked out after 1 night & went to a really nice hotel which was even cheaper and 100 times better (peligran hotel). Everywhere you can find ants in the calm beach resort, the smell in the whole bungalow is horrible and the stuff is really unfriendly too. We moved out after 1 night because we had itchy red spots on the body (maybe bed bugs or ants). Search via agoda or booking.com and you will find something better for sure and aleays read about recomendations before!!

First of all don’t trust any travel agencies in Thailand! They only try to rip you off by offering “a good deal” and they also say that you really need to hurry with your booking because it is the high season WHICH isn’t true at all! Nice lady from Bangkok stopped me and my friend at the street and started to chat with us. She said the same things that we should hurry up with the bookings because we didn’t have any specific traveling plans yet because we didn’t want to make traveling plans before getting to Thailand. She basically pushed us in a Tuktuk and told the driver to take us in the traveling agency and some souvenir shops where we didn’t want to go and the driver didn’t listen us. And secondly about this Calm Beach Resort “hotel” booked by the travel agency... We saw the pictures what travel agency showed us and it looked pretty ok in there. When we arrived it felt like no one knew we were coming. And then about the room.. It looked like from the murder scene from a bad horror film. We couldn’t sleep in the bed it was really hard like sleeping on a rockand the bed sheets looked like they hadn’t been changed for ages. We didn’t have a any running water at the night time and our toilet didn’t flush properly. Thirdly we saw cockroaches outside of the room so probably we had them inside as well.. We checked out the next day because we hardly slept at all. Breakfast was pretty ok but it was overpriced. Staff was really nice to us and it’s a shame that the rooms are in such a poor condition. So lesson learned.

There were literally bugs coming out of the pillows on the bed at this "hotel," which felt more like what I imagine a Thai prison would look like. It was so bad that I couldn't sleep at all and ended up going outside on the beach to try to rest. The towels smelled like urine, the sink flooded out into the room, and the bed had nothing but a flat sheet covering a filthy mattress. I can only imagine the parasites living in that room - I already saw hundreds of bugs, can't imagine how many microscopic ones there were! I paid over $55 USD a night to stay in this unimaginably dirty place and ended up leaving days early and losing over $100. When I asked for a refund, the manager was very rude and she flatly refused, not even making eye contact or apologizing for the filthy conditions. This almost ruined my trip to Thailand - there are places you can stay for $15 a night that are much cleaner than this in Koh Samui. It's a shame that the tourist centers con tourists into overpaying for hovels like this that you can't even stay in - when I say it was the nastiest place I've ever seen, I mean it. I've seen public toilets that were cleaner. Please avoid if you want to enjoy your time in Thailand!
