Carpe Diem Hotel

Under new management! Carpe Diem (new name to be determined?) is THE place to be on Friday nights, during the "walking street" night market at Fisherman's Village. Hang out with friends & people-watch, while listening to jazzy tunes and enjoying 50 baht mojitos & 60 baht Singha beers. Andy, Pat, Glen & the rest of the Samui Fever crew have added a new patio with ample seating, are renovating the hotel rooms, and will soon open an authentic Japanese restaurant, complete with Japanese chefs & hostess. In the meantime, sit back and enjoy Japanese snacks with the aforementioned mojitos & beers, as well as assorted fruit shakes.

Our intention was to stay here for 7 nights but 7 minutes was too long and we had no option but to find another hotel. Our room was absolutely filthy and stunk of damp. We complained but the owner was not remotely interested and couldn't see a problem. Eventually we were put in a room at another hotel for one night, this was at least clean. We returned the next day and were given another room which was cleaner but not much. The door was not secure and staff actually left the door unlocked with our cases in the room. We stayed for one night then left for a lovely hotel across the road. When we asked for a refund we were told to contact Agoda which we will be doing on our return. Avoid this so called hotel and if you have already booked cancel!! The pictures on the website do not show what you will actually get.

This is the one of the worst hotels we’ve ever stayed at. It looks nothing like the photos, which were clearly staged and probably taken when it was first built. At one time it may have been nice. But there has clearly been no maintenance since. We booked a transfer from the airport, which did not show up even after almost an hour so we knew we were forgotten. We were showed to our room and it was the classic room. We had paid extra for a deluxe room. When I explained this, the staff member went down to check and came back up and confirmed that we booked a deluxe, but that they were overbooked. No offer of compensation or apology, and they assumed we wouldn’t notice it was the wrong room. There were ants crawling everywhere in the room. Dozens of ants; clearly an infestation. We brought this up with the front desk and were told sheepishly that the last person in the room stayed for a month and probably had food and garbage that attracted the ants. The bathroom reeked and was covered in black mold, which is a serious health hazard. No hot water. Wifi only worked in the lobby and it was on and off. The pool water was cloudy and dirty, and judging by the rest of the hotel, is likely not maintained or balanced with proper chemicals. Another health hazard. There were only two old loungers by the pool when we were there. Breakfast was served cold. The eggs were half raw and the bacon was more or less just fat. Super small TV in the room with fuzzy reception. After reading all the reviews on Agoda it seemed like this place would be nice; far from it. In my opinion the hotel is a dump. Down the street a few blocks you will find a beautiful resort called Smiles. I suggest finding a room there or staying elsewhere.
