Pupha Mansion

I stayed 4 days at this hotel and from day 1 I warned the owner, multiple times, that the hot water wasn't working. At every time he would go to my room, do some manipulations and demonstrate to me it was working (except that by this time I had already taken a cold shower, of course). At some point he decided to assume there was a problem and promised me to change the water heater. Except that... he forgot it (literally!) and the only thing he offered me was to take a shower at his room (oh, sure!). Well, in summary heater got changed on my last 12 hours and after many cold showers. Additional comments: - Location is good only if you have a bike/car of if you're planning on doing yoga at Vikasa (which is just across the road). Closest beach is 10-15 minutes walking (on the road, side by side with cars, as there is no pedestrian space) - Coakroach in the bathroom, I'd avoid the room that has the rock as one of the walls as it's clearly not well isolated from the outside world, allowing insects to join your bath. - On the good side: air conditioning and wifi worked properly for thai standards. And a minimarket under the hotel, for basic items.

The accommodation is OK and good value for money. The rooms are clean. Sheets get changed regularly. The rooms have fridge and AC. It is situated right on the road from Chaweng to Lamai so there is much traffic noise. But in the night it is quite OK. If you like exercising you are at the right place. On top of the house there is a gym and at the ground-floor there is a Thai-boxing training hall. So be prepared to hear the wild sounds of men and women who feel boxing can enhance their feeling of wellbeing. Across the road there is the Vikasa Yoga retreat center. I do not know if they accept people from outside for their Yoga classes – but you may try. Vikasa also has a restaurant where you will be happy to eat, if you are a health food freak. The people at Phuba Mansion are friendly ready to help. There is also a shop in the building where you can get simple things like drinks, sweets, snacks etc. Two beaches are 1 or 2 kilometers away. If you want and are not afraid to be run over by a car you can even walk there. So altogether it is an OK place to stay, but not really beautiful.

The rooms are relatively new and with fridge and aircon. There are two bars next to the guest house. On the opposite side of the road is a yoga retreat. There is the possibility to get a healthy breakfast and dinner. The guest house offers car and motorbike rental, Thai boxing, massage and a tourist Information with trip booking.
