La Bella Koh Chang

This hotel was very clean and "ikea". But I liked it! The staff was also very friendly. The breakfast was not a big buffé, but you found everything you needed - like coffee, eggs, fruit and stuff! And the beach was just on the other side of the road. If you like it simple, this hotel is perfect!

I stayed four nights after purchasing an agoda secret deal. The hotel is on white sands, the busiest of the Koh Chang beaches. The property is on the back side of the beach road and in a fantastic location for the nightlife and restaurants, not forgetting the incredible little thai street vendors. If you just need somewhere to lay your head of a night then this place is cheap, clean and the staff can not do enough for you. They work incredibly hard and love looking after guests. The down side is the noise. There is a live music bar nearby and the sound of traffic is pretty full on but if you're a city dweller it shouldn't be a problem. Also there is no pool but for the money you can't really grumble. I ended up moving down the coast to a quieter beach.

Stayed there in February, which was my second stay. The first time was in November 2014. This time I booked well in advance and asked for the same type of room and what I received was less than par. Smaller room, no sitting bench, poor lighting and the mattress was hard as a board, There seemed to be lacking the manager that I saw there every day before. The stay was not near as pleasant as before. The staff that was there tried but English is limited and am not sure if they understand. Last stay it took me four days of asking for more shower gel, and finally camping at the front desk before they finally retrieved some for me. If you can put up with the inconsistent room quality, it is a GREAT location. Money exchange, great massage shops, BB Dive shop, great food, and laundry service is all a short walk away. It is on the opposite end of the ting tong bars, and you cannot hear the disco at Sabai Bar. It can be a little annoying with live music right below. Even the third floor rooms are not immune. If you are a light or early sleeper, beware. Room 204 was the best one, and 205 was ok. Room 303 avoid! I have only stayed here on White sand beach, but there are many other places on the island for better value and quality. The end rooms opposite the stairs ( not sure of room numbers) have a table and chairs to sit outside and relax near your room outside which is quite nice.
