Siam Bay Resort

This was our second two weeks visit at Siam Bay. I have no clue why it is rated lower than other resorts on the island. It is very nice. I have traveled 66 countries in my 77 years, from luxurious Four Seasons, Ritz, Banyan Trees, and many boutique hotels. This is a perfectly nice resort. It does not have a gym because its focus s relaxation which is what we both needed after our exhaustive community involvement in Thailand. We live here in the North 9 years now. Siam Bay has a great view of mountains to the right on the beach and it actually resembles TAHITI !!! Elephants are walked down the Kai Bae beach just a short walk from Siam Bay resort. Walk at low tide. Elephants come at least six times a day. We kayaked with them swimming! Incredible, they allow photos with the elephants and to get on their back if not too heavy a person. These are babies and young elephants. The mountains have monkeys and once each week a small troop of monkeys came down the Sylvan Report units behind the ocean front Siam Bay villas and then swung their way to our villas and balconies, Do not smile at them because teeth are sign of aggression. Do not feed them. Keep your sliding doors and windows locked. The monkey king, the one with side burns, can open the door. As cute as they may look, if you are threatening to them they can bite, just remain still. I bought a wooden whistle at a toy shop, souvenir shop because they hate that sound, They walked past us and did not bother us. There are gorgeous hornbill birds in the large trees on the property, the resort has five adorable cats with collars. These are vaccinated and sweet. Do not pet uncollared cats along the beach. The resort food is quite good. They will prepare omelets or fried eggs over easy or hard, just ask. Their English is good, we speak Thai so it was fun. Many employees are not Thai so leaving notes on the bed in Thai will not work. Haha Our rooms were spacious, huge shower room separate toilet with bidet hose, and separate makeup desk area, and sink srea separate. We had zero ants or other insects while there two weeks. We are careful with food and rinse out cans and rinse off yogurt lids etc so we do not attract ants. Never saw one inside. The two pools are immaculate, if you need shade and the areas of shade are taken, use your room umbrella as it is large. If you walk the beach in high tide, just wade in the water it will be ankle height, not a problem, the sunsets here are stunning, We plan to go back again and again. The walk to the supermarket and 7/11 is fun, you pass a hair salon and we both got haircuts with shampoo, very cheap. 7/11 has bread and cheese Havarti, Gouda, Cheese wedges. Do not expect European or US biscuits or crackers. Thai crackers have a lot of sugar. Back to the resort: it is a really good value!

Nice place, but it is by far the prettiest beach. away from the village and restaurant closed at 8:30 am , so much the better because it is filthy.

The resort is located in a beautiful position in a raised position in front of a very scenic inlet. The rooms are comfortable and welcoming, perhaps the furniture is a bit dated but still functional. Unfortunately, the management is very lacking: despite having many guests there are very few deckchairs and beach beds, in the two pools, while on the beach there are none. Umbrellas completely absent. To the request to check if it was possible a late check out of two hours I received no answer except that the check out was at 12, without any verification of a real possibility. Faced with a problem in the bathroom the response time was very slow, fixed the next day (the shower did not work).
