Maracas Bay

Maracas Bay Hotel is located close to Maracas Beach. To the credit of the hotel - the room I stayed in was clean and not overly dilapidated. (I do not know if this is applicable to all the rooms). The grounds were maintained and not bushy or neglected. It is not a large hotel - about 30 rooms. It is nestled just above a small fishing village with views of the ocean. The site does mention that there is no television, so they are upfront about that fact. It does not mention that there is no kitchenette. It was equipped with beds and washroom. Very basic. My room had a stepped area within the washroom area, so you need to make sure the light is on. This may be due to the geography of the land. There was a small patio area to sit and enjoy the view of the sea. My stay was an overnight one with friends. Since the hotel is tucked into the West end of Maracas Beach, after a certain time, it is VERY quiet. There is no entertainment, no (late night) bar or (late night) dining. There is no available vending machine to get juices, pop other beverages or snacks. There is no kitchenette to make tea or coffee. Again, there is no television should you wish to look at a movie at the end of your day. WiFi is sporadic relative to how crowded the beach becomes.These factors must be considered to make the most (!) of your stay here. The breakfast is quite average - nothing to rave about, but it is offered (so at the start of the day, you don't have to wander looking for food!). This includes eggs and bacon or sausage with toast. Coffee, tea or juice for beverages. After breakfast, the options for food, are endless during the day on the beach and nearby areas. (Richard's Bake & Shark is still 'king' after all this years!) Service at this hotel is their greatest flaw. As a entity within in the hospitality business, there is much room for improvement. The friendly greeting experienced at other places is non-existent here. I witnessed two guests arrive and wait as there was no one at the desk for nearly 30 minutes. They walked about wondering where to get assistance and what to do! If you want: - a 'reasonably comfortable' space to stay near Maracas Beach - peace, quiet & absolutely NO frills - no late night dining or shows or hotel shops to browse - no 'formal' eco-activities Then you can consider here with NO other expectations. > Pack books, magazines should you stay up late. > Audio books on your phone > Playing cards, travel size games, puzzle/word search books > Buy water ... juice (for for short term consumption only). Packaged foods, crackers, cookies etc, should you need something to eat while sitting on the patio during 'down time'. Unless you have a small cooler &/or a thermos, remember juices won't last and coffee & tea must be ruled out. > Insect spray/cream if needed is always wise to walk with. Remember options diminish fast not long after the sun sets! The restaurant is not a late operating one. I did not have dinner so I cannot comment here to be fair to the hotel. As mentioned, they were upfront about television. Basic needs are met. Expect not much else. Cost is not inexpensive relative to hotel offerings. Hospitality needs to be improved. It all depends on what you want as a visitor but at least you can plan from an 'informed position'.

This place was very simple No a/c Outdated furniture Its just a place to sleep when you want to spend quality time by the beach They did offer breakfast which was good The main attraction here is really the beach I personally don't like Maracus bay as it is very rough waters but the Bake and shark from Richards is a must have...

well to begin - the staff were not the friendliest -food was unavailable after 6pm-------neeed to order 2hrs prior dinner -in house bar closed 8pm -no tv/fridge/microwave -bathroom vey basic -no mats -beds ewwwww -brkfst basic this place is way toooo costly for wat it is ,with renovation it will be wonderful until then just to sleep and wake up.
