Riu Palace Royal Garden

The resort looks very good, on a white beach and a sea that is nothing short of tropical.... It is among the best hotels in Djerba, without a doubt.... It is a pity to see that the local administration of the island does not take care of the nearby public beaches, which are left neglected and dirty. The hotel staff is friendly, first of all the waiters from the excellent buffet restaurant, where you will really eat well and also healthily. Unfortunately, however, sometimes at the reception we encountered issues with their understanding of English. Most of the clientele is from Eastern Europe, and the dinner shifts are fixed. I do not recommend the themed fish and Italian restaurants; they are not worth it. Be careful if you want a quiet room: explicitly request "in all languages" that it is not located above the evening entertainment stage and the bar (we had made the request through Francorosso since January, but alas it was not considered at all). The beach bar is absolutely not up to a 5-star luxury standard (inadequate in terms of offerings) and there is no control over the rude individuals who occupy the beach and pool loungers for hours, so finding them free is really like "hitting the jackpot." At 5:00 PM, moreover, the staff begins to "clear out" mats and umbrellas at the pool, where it would close at 7:00 PM. The cleaning ladies make beautiful animals with the towels. Unfortunately, and mysteriously, however, on my mattress under the sheet, I found a nail on the last night, risking injury. Overall, it is advisable, nonetheless.

Very beautiful hotel, magnificent garden. The servers, bartenders, lifeguards are lovely and do everything to make your stay enjoyable, just like the spa staff. Some drawbacks: the aging bathroom, with a bathtub unsuitable for older guests (a large portion of the clientele), and a weak flush (forced to use the bathroom trash can as a bucket). And the reception staff is friendly but unhelpful: no requests are taken into account, with a manager explaining that booking a taxi or finding someone is not part of their responsibilities!

This is our second stay at this hotel. And as usual, impeccable service, with staff who have become friends. The spa is extremely competent. Each manager and chef is very nice, and every time the entire staff is committed. The pool reception and towels, gardener, ladies in charge, housekeepers, security, pool bar, daytime receptionists, and especially the night receptionist, our friend: Fethi. Our friend Lofti, for the activities. The entertainers, Ayman, Titi, but all the servers at the indoor bar, Mohamet, Omar in the morning and evening, and their manager. The piano bar service, but not forgetting the salesperson at the store and leather shop. And I will conclude with the photographers! I believe I have not forgotten anyone, as well as the entrance guards at the hotel barriers. Bravo to everyone.
