That's the true that it's a bit difficult to go uphill especially with suitcases.. But the room, its furniture and the location of the hotel was very good. The only problem we faced was that (as the other visitor already said) there is only cleaning lady at the reception who doesn't speak english. That wouldn't have been a problem if we hadn't had some problems during our staying in Istanbul (desease). In other cases there are no so many needs to communicate with receptionist! But honestly she's very friendly even if she speaks only turkish and you can't understand what she talks about! :) Advise: if you want to call the taxi and to save up the money, do it on your own (without asking receptionsit of the hotel to do it). Because on the way on (from the hotel) it cost us twice as much comparing the way back when we just stopped a taxi on the street! We had a kitchen in our room, which was fully equipped with all necessary home appliances and dishes! The quality of cleaning was good (for example they changed towels twice during 5 days). They just didn't find the Snickers wrapping under the nightstand which was left there by previous guest. There were some constructions works nearby and we heard the sound of that, but during nights it was almost silent (except the sound of washing machines as they were nearby to our room on the ground floor). Sometimes I woke up because of boats beeps as the hotel is located close to Bosphorus. But I have to say that I'm very sensitive to all those things! Wi-Fi was very weak but I managed to connect once.

Generally speaking I enjoyed my stay there. On the upside, the location is ideal and is just minutes’ walk from the Bosporus and the Taxim square and there is a super market and many places to eat nearby. The hotel is very clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful (especially the cleaning lady who does her best to communicate even though she speaks only Turkish), and there is a very intimate and nostalgic feeling to the space. On the down side it can be bit difficult to communicate, given the fact that most of the day only the cleaning lady is there at the reception. The only other thing that may cause a problem for some travelers, especially the elders or children, is the very steep road leading to the main street. However, I recommend this place if you are not very keen on amenities and luxuries and is looking for an intimate experience of Istanbul.
