Kalyon Hotel

We traveled as a family and chose the Kalyon Hotel, even though we saw that the reviews on Trip Advisor were only mediocre. To our surprise, the experience was positive. We stayed in a panoramic room with a sea view. The space was a good size and clean, but the refrigeration didn't work well and we got hot during the stay (we didn't file a complaint with the management). The breakfast and meals at Falyanos restaurant were of good quality, with enough variety to please everyone. The highlight was the cordiality of the team: all employees were attentive and helpful, which made a difference in our experience. Overall, despite the problem with the air conditioning, I consider that the hotel provided a pleasant stay and I would stay there again

Kalyon Hotel enjoys an excellent and convenient location in the Fatih/Sultanahmet area, making it easy to reach many of Istanbul’s historic attractions. I particularly appreciated the friendly and helpful bellmen, as well as the clearly separated recycling bins and visible attention to sustainability in the public areas. There were, however, a few aspects of my stay that I hope the hotel will consider improving. The Panoramic Room and its view did not quite meet the expectations created by the online descriptions and photos, and some of the furniture, upholstery, and carpets appeared worn or in need of deeper cleaning and maintenance. Housekeeping could also be more consistent, particularly regarding the overall cleanliness and condition of the room. Sleep comfort was affected by noise and by the bed and pillows, which I personally found uncomfortable. Communication at reception was another area where a more welcoming, clear, and solution-oriented approach would have made the experience more pleasant. I was pleased to see the hotel highlighting sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, together with practical recycling facilities. It would be even more meaningful to see these values reflected consistently across housekeeping, maintenance, guest comfort, and service quality. Overall, Kalyon Hotel has a very good location, helpful bellmen, and encouraging sustainability initiatives; with greater attention to room maintenance, housekeeping, sleep comfort, and reception communication, the overall guest experience could be considerably stronger.

Hotel facilities were poor and limited. I also had arranged an airport transfer directly through the hotel. I got there and there was no one available. This was a great stress as I had to wait 1hr and then exchange money and risk alternative transfer. Not reliable and not helpful when I approached the hotel.
