Solid because really built as a Soviet nuclear shelter and solid choice because it is very well maintained and very clean. Large comfortable room, plenty of hot water in the shower, good internet, good mattress. View over the Parliament (10th floor) and very central. Breakfast buffet pleasant but coffee not hot enough. The lobby/bar is too quiet.

This was my third hotel I stayed at in Ukraine and my first bad experience. I was going to extend my stay by one day and possibly 11 days but the front desk person was rude and not helpful. I selected another hotel in Kiev, the hassle switching hotels in the same city is something I try to avoid. However, there are hotels with better location and value in Kiev that I don’t have to put up with a rude front desk person! My recommendation is stay far away from the Natsionalny Hotel!

I stayed in Natsionaly two times for approximately 5 days. Decent and clean hotel in a luxurious communist style. Great location in the center of Kiev. It is only a 5 minute walk to main street Khreschatyk. Do not expect great service af this hotel: the personnel does not always speak English and it is strictly forbidden for them to smile or be friendly to guests (sometimes they might even come across as angry). The price of a room including breakfast is very low in my view. I would recommend this hotel, good value for money.
