It is always difficult to chose a hotel in a city you don't know, especially when you as we, don't want the mainstream hotels you can find anywhere in the world. When traveling my wife and I are determined to find local hotels that reflects the national customs, design and atmosphere. But no matter how much research you do, you are never really quite sure when selecting a hotel. You can read comments from other users on the various travel search engines but the comments often vary from "Love this place to the worst ever" about the same place. One further criteria is that the room must have a terrace, balcony or a garden, which limits the number of choices. Unfortunately TripAdvisor has still not implemented this as a part of the filter, but many hotel search engines do... After many many emails forth and back to hotels that claim to have a balcony or a terrace, but where this was just a part of the hotel and not the room, we found this smal hotel in the heart of Kiev. Room 201 is a small suite with a beautiful terrace overlooking the courtyard. The room itself is very well decorated and totally renovated.. A four poster bed and a beautiful bathtub at each end of the room makes this design hotel room very special. The separate bathroom is equipped with white English tiles and matching sanitary and a walkin rainshower that makes the room perfect. The colors of the room is well thought through to give the room the right ambiance. Breakfast is served in the terrace restaurant on the 4th floor overlooking the quiet courtyard or in the hill side garden with a small waterfall.

It was my first stay in this hotel in Kiev. The atmosphere is very pleasant and very individual. Attention to detail prevailed here. The rooms are sufficiently large, good bed, minibar, shower, everything was great. I really liked the modern, but not cold furnishings. The staff are extremely friendly, although only English is spoken at reception. The garden is particularly beautiful, where you can have a very pleasant breakfast. Very quiet, beautiful. However, you have to make very clear compromises in terms of service here. It may be because it is impossible to communicate with the staff, but even though there is a breakfast menu, they simply bring you food without giving you a chance to choose anything. The coffee, although good, is lukewarm at best, and you have to look for the staff. You also have to be very patient until something is brought to you. Still, an overall good experience. I will continue to use the hotel in the future.

I do not recommend the Terrace restaurant in this hotel. For the first time I was in the restaurant in 2018, there was a terrible service, 30 minutes waiting for a glass of wine, then 30 minutes waiting for the bill. We decided to give this restaurant another chance in 2022. Made an order, one dish was missing from the order - re-ordered. The dish that they brought - quail - is not worth the money, dry, very small dish - nothing to eat. My companion is waiting for a honey cake for 1 hour and 40 minutes while it is baking, we asked to cancel but the waitress proposed us to wait a bit more, so we still waiting now. Not tasty, long, not professional. Now we won't be coming here again.
