Excellent old and historical building and surrounding countryside. Ideal as a self contained wedding venue.

Where to begin with our stay, my wife and I decided to stay here for a wee getaway over the weekend our initial impression driving into the property was that it was a very nice location with a beautiful outdoor patio area, there was a large wedding present which was not an issue.
However once we checked in the troubled began, the toilet was in fact broken, I went to reception for complain and the young lad manning the station informed me he sent a message to the group chat asking for maintenance on the toilet, I tried to push for an eta on the fix however I did not really get an answer, after an hour of waiting I returned and a more senior colleague seemed to be also manning the reception with him at the same time I asked by name for a duty manager who was no longer working there and that immediately got her attention, I explained the situation to her and she informed me she will try to call the maintenance man who had the day off on that day.
And another colleague went with me to my room to try and fix the toilet he was unsuccessful and then he went to the kitchen to deputise the chef to fix the toilet after around 20 minutes they did achieve a semblance of a flush however it was not fully working.
My wife and I agreed to mainly use the communal toilets near the reception area because of how weak the flush was.
I do however appreciate deputising the chef for this matter and the attempt at service they showed for fixing the toilet in the bathroom.
The bathroom however was extremely tired with mould present within the tiles, the sleeping room however was decent and relatively clean and nice to be in.
Regarding supper, the main course meal was pleasant and good, the restaurant was empty though as due to the wedding party being present the restaurant was closed to people who were not guests and I overhead a number of disappointed travellers who came to the restaurant to eat at the hotel, the dessert was another issue however we ordered grilled pineapple and ice-cream it was extremely rushed and missing the condiments it would have on the menu and likely rushed due to the wedding party that was present.
Later during the night my wife and I wished to enjoy a drink in our room, however again due the wedding party being present, every communal room was filled with people with drunken boorish behaviour therefore we decided to order and drink and return to our room to enjoy it, service was relatively quick and the drink was enjoyable.
In the morning the self-serve breakfast was decent with a good assortment of Scottish style and European style breakfast items however we noticed the table next to us had a different server and were offered a menu and were able to order pancakes and bacon which my wife and I were not offered, this was disappointing.
We did not use any of the spa facilities or had plans to do so, if the facilities in our room were any indication of what it would be like, I definitely would not go there.
I would not stay here again, however I do appreciate the service the staff showed me with the difficulty with the facilities in our room, therefore for that reason only it's a 2.5 stars, it seems once a wedding party is present a tier system exists in this hotel for guests, if our dessert is any indication.
see attached photograph for the jammed flusher that.
