main and a small drink from a selection..(although I think low alcohol beer is not included in the deal and we may have been charged extra for it) we chose pumpkin tagliatelle and fish and chips. food was average and portions quite small for the price. The vegetarian choice is Limited although the friendly and helpful waiter did bring a vegetarian menu which had some options such as a mushroom with cheese and avocado in a brioche bun with chips for £22.00. The vegetarian options did not really offer a balanced main course with any protein except a bit of cheese on one option . Also for an allegedly upmarket place I'd expect a nice salt and black pepper dispenser with decent salt not the tired looking ones at the table which appeared to have regular salt in the salt grinder. I also found the bill was presented in a way that was hard to scan quickly and check as each item had its VAT shown separately so therefore not easy to compare to menu prices.

Crackin place, very quaint in such a lovely village
Blue plaque showing Lewis stayed there was a nice touch
Went in with friends for light bite
Service poor, had to ask several times for water and milk. Annoying. If that service is typical then it needs sorting.
The lite bites were ok. The parfait came with one slice of toast which was overpriced
Didn’t use Spa but looks tacky and out of place for such a quaint place

My wife and I stayed at the Old Inn from Tuesday, August 25th for 3 nights. It was originally supposed to be a 2 night stay but my wife surprised me by booking a third night. To start, the staff are brilliant. They are so nice, accommodating and helpful. A special shoutout for the reception staff. We stayed in the Junior Suite. Such a lovely suite with the bath a feature. The room is a very nice size with a lovely, comfortable bed. There is a TV and super sized bathroom. The Bar and Restaurant are very nice. There was a quiz night on the Tuesday but we missed the start of it. It was fun to get the tail end of it though. The dinner in the restaurant and bar on the two nights we ate there were high quality. The treetop spa is a fantastic spot to relax it. Really enjoyed spending time here and there was access to the bar if you wanted with QR codes to order for delivery directly to the large plunge pool or hot tub. We both had a spa treatment and that was incredibly relaxing. The therapists were so pleasant, it was a joy. Overall, we both so enjoyed our stay at the Old Inn and hope to treat ourselves to another stay here soon. Highly recommended. Outside the hotel, the Country Park located adjacent to the hotel is a lovely place to walk and explore and leads onto Helens Bay and Crawfordsburn beaches. We walked the seaside path to Bangor and had a drink and some lovely food at the Bryansburn Inn. In terms of value, the prices are premium but I believe you are paying for a premium stay at a premium hotel with a premium spa and amenities.
