We returned to the spa during our holiday this year based on a fabulous experience the year before. Unfortunately things have changed which left us disappointed.
We had been allowed to book the outside area last year which we had made the day feel special. This year I had asked within 3 emails to the spa asking if we could book the outside area and it was never answered. I had said in my last email maybe we could use the outdoor area after treatment- afternoon tea and then presumed that had just been the plan when we arrived we were then told we can no longer use it as we didn’t stay in the hotel and it was now only for guests staying overnight
I paid £297 for the three of us and we couldn’t access the outdoor area. I was also disappointed that I was not allowed to pay for my 14 year old daughter to join us in the pool and pay for her lunch again as we were not guests of the hotel
We have been staying in the area every summer for 18 years now and when we found this hotel last year for a spa it was our intention to have a spa day but we won’t be back now.
It was a very hot day and being stuck inside wasn’t pleasant.
I would like to say that Freya who did my facial was absolutely delightful and a great asset to your company and if it hadn’t been for her making the treatment so enjoyable I would have rated it lower.
The afternoon tea was also good - I felt this experience wasn’t as nice as previous year but that may just have been how we were feeling with things overall.
I appreciate staying guests wish to go outside but surely if there were spaces others could use it.

Nice hotel, great location.
In the absence of a lift, getting luggage up stairs can be difficult. Totally understand why there isn’t a lift in a beautiful old building, but perhaps reception team could be more proactive in offering help!
Be there offering assistance not just being present in case someone asks you…
That’s what turns a 4 star review into a 5 star for me

Nice place to stay, must have been lovely in the past but all very worn and very much in need of updating, but it’s clean and comfortable. Exceptionally hot and no air con (as with most hotels in Scotland and the weather is unusual) so our top floor rooms were uncomfortable even with a fan. Pleasant room, great snacks! Good bed linen and towels. The pool is nice with an indoor hot tub section, there’s a steam room, salt room and experience shower. Didn’t use the sauna/outside hot tub as the (additional charge) one with the view was located next to the car park. The full view of the loch is blocked by car parking which is a shame.
Very dog friendly, lots of dogs which is great if that’s your thing, I imagine not if you don’t like them in your dining area and the bar.
