The Park Hotel

A complete gem, what a find. This hotel is excellent in so many ways. The owners and their staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is happy and comfortable. Breakfasts are fabulous and evening meals delicious. Warm, with comfortable beds and great showers and lots of rooms with sea views this place is exceptionally good value for money.

Friendly hotel; limited variety breakfast menu; dinner menu better and good quality; residents bar appreciated; bedroom ok for short stay but lighting inadequate for reading in bed; WiFi in our room was very poor (signal booster required); bathroom cramped and couldn’t use small filled basin without soaking your feet; on-street parking ok; quite a long walk to town centre.

What a find this hotel is! It is currently being upgraded so although our room was dated it was clean and the beds were really comfortable. Becca was on duty when we arrived and gave us a friendly welcome and made sure we could access the free WiFi. She also gave us directions locally and was very attentive on our return. There was the usual tea and coffee making facilities in the room and also free toiletries. There was a bath in our room and it was great to have lots and lots of piping hot water and great pressure so it filled really quickly. Chickens clucking in the garden gave us great hope for breakfast in the morning. You order breakfast in advance which we think is a great idea as it saves food waste and your breakfast is ready at your chosen time. We had what must be the best value breakfast ever! Lots of choices including scrambled eggs and smoked salmon but we didn't succumb and chose poached eggs with bacon, mushrooms, potato scone, fresh orange juice, cereal, toast, tea and coffee. The quality was very good and the service from Marianna was friendly, chatty and professional. It was only a one night stay, however, if we go back to Dunoon then for sure we shall book the Park Hotel. Tremendous value.
