This is a hidden gem and very dog friendly we had a great time at this hotel. Rhona, Cara and Abbie made us so welcome and the food was excellent all home made by Cara and Rhona served by Abbie. The continental breakfast was plentiful and filling. The garden was peaceful and well maintained with lovely views over to Arran. We would definitely recommend this hotel and a wee tip book direct with the hotel. We will return Molly the pup too.

AWFUL experience!!
Reality bears no resemblance to the website. Building exterior and grounds clearly not maintained for many years- dirty overgrown and seriously dilapidated. We booked a week but left as soon as we could.
No menu offered - set - main course only
dinner of cheap, mediocre frozen food served to us in only the public bar, full of smelly old furnishings.
Only 1 other guest on this, peak season, and literally 1 or 2 people in the bar: clearly notorious and shunned by locals.
Room: the only hot water was an old electric shower; no housekeeping; noisy ancient plumbing. Nice bedlinen the only positive I could remember.
Staff just wanted to moan to us about their own misfortunes with no concept of customer service.
They tried to dissuade us from having breakfast.
Sadly, no other food available anywhere nearby so captive audience until you can formulate your escape.
I’m incredulous that this place can still be operating.

Booking via the website was a big mistake
The cost of our 7 day stay was taken by an American agent before we arrived and could not be retrieved when we found that the reality of the hotel was nothing like the pictures. The lady in charge told us that the cost would have been significantly lower if we had booked directly by phone.
The public areas are shabby and very few people came for meals. Our only meal was clearly not home cooked - scampi, chips and peas straight from the freezer. Breakfast is not included in the cost and we were told it was only available at weekends so we went to local cafes which open at 11.00 am
Room service was minimal: the only evidence of any attention at all was that the waste bin was emptied once.
For several nights we were the only people staying, which felt weird in a fairly large hotel. On the plus side our room was comfortable with a good bed and clean linen. No clean towels were offered during our stay. We could just see the water in the distance but it wasn’t the sea view we had hoped for.
Because we had fantastic weather we chose to cut our stay short by only one night and enjoyed it as a version of glamping; the ladies running the hotel were friendly and helpful in recommending lovely places to enjoy the sunshine.
So we would not recommend this hotel
