The Ugadale Hotel and Cottages

Good B&B. Lovely rooms, nice breakfast, helpful staff

Spacious room with view over the ocean and right next to 1st of Machrahanish Golf Club. That’s why we booked the hotel ie location and convenience. The place badly needs a major renovation. The bedrooms, bathrooms and public areas are all in need of work. The owners claim they are trying to maintain the original victorian charm but what tosh, they simply don’t want to spend more money on it and with a ready and willing steady stream of golfers will to pay £350 a night then I suppose why would they? There is no other option in town and don’t they know it. Only stay here if you are playing golf opposite.

We stayed in a cottage which was spacious and comfortable. Great showers, towels, amenities and beds. There was no cleaning or fresh towels or soap during our stay which surprised me. Breakfast was standard. I felt sorry for the staff who were very busy from serving us in the restaurant the night before and early for breakfast. There is not much else in Machrihanish but we didn't get bored staying there. Of course there is golf across the street and Mach Dunes and Dunaverty.
