Royal Berkshire Ramada

Wow, a UK hotel room with the kind of air conditioning you usually get in good hotels abroad. It sounds minor but we were in the middle of a heatwave, so not having it would have been a nightmare. We rocked up at about 11am on a Saturday, expecting to just register the car in the car park and we were allowed to check in. The room was really nice, but when we saw the size of the wedding being setup not that far from the room we were a bit nervous about being kept awake all night. As it turns out the soundproofing is incredible and we couldn't hear a thing in our room. Bed was great, combined with the Airton and soundproofing gave me the best nights sleep I've ever had on a short break. Dinner in the restaurant was ok, which given the price was the only down side. Nothing bad about the food, just 'ok'. The service in the restaurant was a bit slow, probably down to us having to compete with a big wedding. Overall the service was what you'd expect from a hotel like this, very friendly and happy to help. If we ate there again we'd probably use the bar. Speaking of the bar, the prices are steep, but its an excellent hotel in an expensive part of greater London, so no shocks there, just be aware.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Royal Berkshire. We were there for family wedding and the hotel staff were helpful and efficient. The property itself is gorgeous, with acres surrounding the main hotel building, complete with a reflecting pool and a walled garden. Because of the warming climate, England suffered several weeks of scorching weather which unfortunately browned out the lawns. The room we had was very nice: clean, modern fixtures, neat lines, comfortable beds and renovated bathrooms. We stayed in the Oak wing which had air conditioning but I understand there is another wing that does not have air conditioning. Make sure you reserve the air conditioned rooms, especially if you come during the summer. Breakfast was included which was a cold and hot buffet. It was a busy weekend with two weddings happening so the staff was a little short handed and service was slow. The wedding itself went off without any hitch and they assigned a wedding coordinator who was the hotel's point person and she was really good (Dominique). She said that they do about 50 weddings a year, mostly between June and September. The food was really good, well prepared and delicious. I felt like I wanted to get married there. It is also 20 minutes to and from Heathrow airport for overseas guests. The train station from London leaves Waterloo station and you get off at Sunningdale. From the train station it is a short taxi ride, which cost about 10 pounds.

Excellent stay at Royal Berkshire for 3 nights for a family wedding weekend. The staff went out of their way to make our visit comfortable and enjoyable and a special mention to the friendly support an service provided by the front desk, restaurant and bar teams. The food choice and quality was all good and all the catering for the wedding was outstanding. The location and grounds of the hotel are remarkable. Thanks for a great stay
