Fines Bayliwick Hotel

Cheap, ample parking, 15 minute walk to the Bridge pub for food and drink. Beds comfortable, shower good, large room. Perfectly adequate for a flying visit

This could be a really beautiful boutique hotel but unfortunately it needs refurbing. My husband and I stayed here overnight for Mother’s Day, we booked in and the friendly receptionist asked if we wanted the ground floor family room, which is situated by the main front door, we agreed. I can only describe the room as shabby chic, it needed properly cleaning, we found chocolate stars on the rug, the sheets had small cigarette burns in them when we turned them back, the very soft sofa had a throw over it to hide how grubby it is and it was all quite dusty. The four poster bed is a lovely detail but the whole room needs a bit of tlc, fresh looking fabrics and a coat of paint wouldn’t go amiss. On the plus side we had a lovely nights sleep, despite the front door banging occasionally. All I can say to the owners is you have a little gem here it would be lovely to see it refurbished, and what a shame about the Wisteria at the front, it looked so lovely in the photos on the website, maybe an idea to take it down now that it’s died though

We stayed here on a visit to Lapland. Location was Brilliant , right near everything. We only seen one member of staff who was on reception , who was very nice. We were put in a family room right next to reception which was very loud, doors constantly banging, loud conversations going on outside the room. The shower was freezing cold after being in there for about 1 min, meaning only one of us could have a shower as we weren’t prepared to have a shower in the freezing cold. We left extra earlier on our last day as we wanted to get home to have a nice warm shower. Room was big but was very cold. Definitely wouldn’t stay here again, I contacted the hotel when I got home , as no one was about to speak too and since had no reply. I contacted Booking.com which were very helpful and offered us a £17 refund for the inconvenience. The hotel could have replied with a sorry and maybe improve the terms with small family’s staying right by the front reception and also improve there hot water. Would not recommend
