The Forbury Hotel

Had a wonderful stay at the hotel and an excellent massage from Csenge. The service was friendly, professional, and welcoming. I really enjoyed my experience and will definitely return!

A Lovely Building, Bravely Undermined by Its own staff The car park is technically a car park in the way a shoebox is technically storage. Having sat waiting long enough to develop a personal relationship with the surrounding streets, I finally checked in — and was told the lift was broken. Being fixed, they assured me. I was on the third floor. Over several days I climbed those stairs many times and never once encountered a mechanic, a toolbox, or so much as a rumour of one. More seriously: while working in my room with the Do Not Disturb light on, a member of staff simply let himself in. He says he knocked; I was wearing headphones. Either way, the light was on. I'm a fifty-year-old man and merely startled. Had it been a young woman getting changed or in bed, "startled" wouldn't cover it. Breakfast at 9.30 — half an hour before service ended — offered one lonely sausage and a few strips of bacon keeping vigil in the hot trays. The yoghurt and fruit were perfectly fine. No air conditioning. The Dyson fan achieved little beyond breathing gently on me; a standing fan was mercifully better. Do not come here in July or August! Structurally and decoratively, the hotel is genuinely lovely. The service is not. Luxury this is not — yet.

Just got finished with my stay at The Roseate this past weekend for Reading Festival. The property was very nice and comfortable, and an easy walking distance to the festival grounds. The entire hotel staff was lovely and very accommodating, helping us with multiple taxis and a late check-out. Highly recommend staying here.
