We had a 2 night stay in a 2nd floor room overlooking the sea. The hotel outside is in need of a coat of paint but the inside has been re-furbished to preserve the original art-deco design . The public areas are beautiful. I especially liked the small photo gallery on the half-landing. Our room was not large but had a huge bed, a new bathroom with a smart walk-in shower and a stunning view. Everything was spotlessly clean. What more do you need? Parking is an issue as there are only a couple of spaces at the front of the hotel but local spaces are free between 6pm and 9am and we managed to get a hotel space the following morning so it was not too bad at all.
The buffet style breakfast , served in a beautiful opulent dining room, was superb. It had everything you could want and the hot items were fresh and warm. Staff were helpful and professional at all times. Having read previous reviews , we had fairly low expectations but were very pleasantly surprised. We had a wonderful stay and will return to this lovely hotel.

We managed to park in the limited car parking area in front of the hotel. We were checked in efficiently by a helpful and pleasant receptionist (nice reception area). The lift wasn’t working, so we were allocated a room on the 1st floor rather than the 4th (as a senior lady, I would have struggled without the lift))!!! Help was on hand to take luggage to the rooms. The compact room had a spectacular view over the harbour and bay. Pity the windows didn’t open, as we arrived in the midst of a heat wave and the room was extremely hot. We were grateful for the bottled water, tea/coffee making facilities and biscuits. There was a TV and hairdryer with comfortable twin beds. It was a bit of a challenge to climb into the bath to have a shower but it did the job (I do prefer a walk-in shower though). The hotel was situated in the town centre, with a short walk to shops, bars and restaurants and not far from the ferry terminal.

Outside looks horrendous as needs some tlc, staff are not bothered regarding anything even complaints, room was disgusting, think with dust, window cracked, window.securiry lock broken, gap above and below door, door handle on bathroom lose, toilet roll holder hanging off the wall, dirty, smell of mould and damp in corridor, the fire door outside room door has a gap above the door also, radiator in hall starting to fall off wall aswell as fire extinguisher, have electrical box in room to which is coming off the wall and can be accessed by guests in room. Went for food down stairs in resturant and it was dusty, and while waiting for order could smell cigarette smoke coming from kitchen, never asked about allergies and nothing on menu for lactose intolerant guests, also food ordered was covered in pepper to which it took taste away from meal . Wont be back. For anyone thinking of booking save your money and go elsewhere.
