The Haycock Hotel

On arrival in the afternoon the receptionist a older lady was not at all helpful, we were given our key cards told the number of our room and to walk through a arch, we also saw 2 other couples looking for where they needed to go, I had to go onto website to get time for breakfast, we have stayed in numerous hotels and have never had no information before, cleaners don’t clean, our bathroomnwas definitely not hoovered or mopped, toilet wasn’t clean either, towel had a pubic hair on it, this is not a top grade hotel, the only thing we could not fault was the food which was outstanding and the servers were extremely helpful, I wouldn’t return.

I just want to say what an absolutely awful experience we had coming for Sunday lunch the other day. My wife booked the table a month in advance for 3 of us, 2 of whom are vegan. She was assured at the time that you could cater for vegans and again when she double checked the day before our visit. Yet when we were seated, we were told that our options were soup and salad(!) - and that the chef couldn't (or didn't want to) adapt anything else, as it was all pre cooked!! An hour round trip and special occasion ruined, all because no one could communicate that you CAN'T actually cater for vegans!! Very disappointed.

Spoiler alert: I haven’t seen the Prevost restaurant but heard great things about it which are probably true. I visited the hotel between 4 and 5 to check one thing. The pictures on the web make the restaurant look all wood and glass which makes it very hard for people with hearing difficulties to hear. I wanted to see if there was a section that would be quieter for the people I wanted to book for. Then comes the hard luck bit. In response to my request and it being after four o’clock, hotel reception said I wasn’t allowed to even go to look at the restaurant. I thought her attitude was rude. She looked experienced and probably thought she was simply being clear. All in all wasted time, a wasted trip and a lost booking. Maybe she didn’t like my shorts
