The Sibson Inn Hotel

I stay every year to visit Burghley Horse Trials & I absolutely love my stay at the Sibson Inn. Great location, value for money, easy parking, clean & everything I need for my stay. The evening meal was excellent too. Highly recommend & cant wait for next year Thank you

Firstly we didn’t realise it was on the A1 , nothing told us that. Not the most scenic view. Pretty noisey as you can imagine. My main gripe was that no one ie reception or any other staff that I spoke to told us the A1 was going to close at 8pm that night till 6am in the morning with no other way of getting into the hotel !! My partner was working that evening in a few miles up the road as a singer at the Haycock Hotel 2 junctions further north . He started at 6pm and came out 9pm to find he couldn’t get to the hotel because the A1 was closed. He had to sleep in his van all night till I called him at 5am to tell him they have opened the road so he could then come back and get into bed missing breakfast that we had paid for because he was so tired. I approached the reception and spoke to someone and if he knew the road was going to be closed , he said yes lol , why didn’t anyone tell us !! He said you could have got the escort vehicle to bring you to hotel , yes great if we knew about this , again wasn’t informed. Lack of information and no personality in the hotel , it needs a refurb very tired. Although clean. Shame it’s a lovely building but you want a bit of luxury and professional experience don’t book here. As you can tell not a happy customer , I will be in touch with booking.com as these were the people I booked through.

The Sibson inn is ideally situated on the A1 for travel between the North and the South. I have mentioned in previous reviews, this is a wonderful place. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The food is very good and plenty of it if you have a large appetite. There is always a good choice of dishes. We do prefer the rooms in the courtyard as they all look out onto the field, where on a clear night you can see the stars. There are plenty of tables and chairs in the courtyard where you can sit, have a drink and chat with friends, or simply sit and read. The bedrooms in the courtyard are well furnished, clean, and light. There is always ample tea, coffee and milk in the rooms too. Breakfast is cooked freshly each morning, nothing is kept warm under an infrared light. Abundance of cereal, toast, juice tea and coffee at breakfast. After eating dinner it is lovely to sit in the bar where the staff are happy to chat too. Excellent value, all round.
