underwhelmed. absolute overpriced grim lookin place.
Room stank of dogshit for starters. Colleagues room TV didn't work and reported at reception, who promised they'd send someone straight away but didn't. No plugs nr beds. Food and drink prices crazy for what it is.
Sides were better value and taste than the main.of Sea bass for £22 which was dry and disgusting. Breakfast almost edible. Prosecco in bar £37!! One poor member of bar staff who was lovely btw but covering everywhere. 2 numpties stood in empty restaurant talking. Told them outside tables were covered in crap for hours and they actually asked if we wanted it cleaning up!
Clearly we would rather have it covered in 3hr old leftovers and spilt drinks🙄
Customer service is actually dead in this country and lazy, gormless numpties employed, while charging extortianate prices for whats basically crap. otherwise wonderful😂😁

Overall, our stay was acceptable, but the hotel is looking quite tired and would benefit from some refurbishment. The décor throughout feels dated and shabby in places.
The bathroom, in particular, was disappointing. The grout was grubby and stained, giving the impression that it hadn’t been deep cleaned for some time. A thorough clean and some regrouting would make a significant difference.
Overall, the hotel would benefit from redecorating and a comprehensive deep clean to bring it up to the standard guests would expect.
There are better hotels in Chester for a similar price but in a better central location. I would not recommend the hotel for a stay

We stayed there over three nights and generally speaking it was a poor overpriced experience, it is essentially a glorified premier inn, which me, my girlfriend and multiple other guests seemed to agree on, and I'll explain why.
The room (for the price was very poor) aside from the TV, everything looked and felt cheap and tacky, many things like soap, shower gel, brew kit etc was empty and had to ask for it at the desk. That was the first impression.
Following that we had a look around, the gym and pool where fairy nice but we kept noticing workers (cleaners etc) walking around looking quite sad, depressed and seemingly overworked/tired, we cannot prove this was the case but we saw this many times with various members of staff and we genuinely felt quite bad for them.
Anyway, the price was pretty much £300 for three days and that was due to a discount that was given, for the room and service it's really worth around £60/night max, and we had the privileged room so I'd hate to see the others.
Moving on, we ordered literally two beers which was £17, so we realised this would be a pricey affair, which I don't mind but you expect a decent quality, and this REALLY wasn't. We decided to try some food which was a basic bar menu (wings, burgers, fried etc) and we got two starters, a small and normal main and two ale drinks which was £78, this was basic bar food and REALLY wasn't worth it, this was food quality you'd get in a green king type pub, maybe marginally better.
We asked the receptionist for location details and she was fine, but the second she gave it, she gave us a card with a QR code and wrote her name on it asking us for a review, we said it's fine and made us feel a little awkward but this was a reoccurring thing with the staff giving us cards, writing their names and kinda begging for positive reviews, it's quite weird to be honest and quite pressurising. The same thing happened when the manager "DG" brought a birthday board out which was free because the staff made various mistakes up to that point, which is the least they could have done, but then give us a card talking to us for 5 mins (while eating) asking us to write a review and mention his name, I'm not sure if they get a bonus of some kind but it's weird and awkward and he was a terrible manager talking to staff in particular in a rude way, but also the guests, i suppose he got his wish, we did a review but not what he was hoping for.
Moving forward rooms are NOT cleaned for you unless you specifically requested it, which makes no logical sense given we where in the privileged room (though any room should be cleaned) we found this out after coming back from our first day realising the room obviously hadn't been clean.
There where various other issues but another thing that really stood out was that as most of the staff are Indian (which in it's self is not an issue) the problem there lies that a majority of the staff have broken English and seem to struggle to engage in conversation or understand basic questions which is a problem when the majority of guests are native English speaking.
On the positive the breakfast is a good deal and nice, and the outside grounds are nice, well maintained and pretty
But ultimately really not worth it at all, cheap tacky rooms, poor equipment, bad staff particularly management who's grasp on the English language isn't great which doesn't help matters, extremely overpriced rooms, drinks and food and we got talking to 5 guests, two of which said theyved had to change rooms 3 times as they're abysmal and the others echoing what I've mentioned and all staying they'd never come back, and neither would we.
