We stayed here for 3 nights and although the room was comfortable, the see through bathroom (although frosted panel to hide some modesty) wasn't to put taste. It seems to have also caused issues with the carpet in the room which wasn't pleasant. We had the Alice in wonderland afternoon tea on the day we arrived, and although the parlour was fine, it wasn't the full Alice experience we thought it was, particularly as there was a themed Alice room at the front of the hotel. Unfortunately we weren't aware prior to booking that Saturday afternoons host a DJ and we sat having our afternoon tea unable to talk to each other without shouting and ensured the atmosphere of a wedding reception which wasn't really what we wanted. That said the afternoon tea was "ok" although a little overpriced based on the whole experience. I felt it could have been slightly fresher as the edges of the sandwiches were dry. We didn't moan as we just wanted to finish and get out of there as quick as we could. The rest of the stay was ok, WiFi can be an issue in the garden annex, and when we asked for help the receptionist didn't even look at us and just said we had to connect at reception to the WiFi. I do feel you should be able to connect anywhere if WiFi is available. On our last morning we were awoken at 7am by loud music clearly coming from the bar/garden area, which we felt was too early in the morning. My husband went to complain as we had a long drive home and could have done with not being awoken so early. His complaint was dismissed as "we aren't playing music" when he could clearly hear it in that area as he was talking to the staff member. Despite "not playing music" it mysteriously went off after a couple of minutes. It wasn't coming from a room and I felt they realised their error and turned it off. Overall although a comfortable stay room wise, these little things make us not really want to return which is a shame as the hotel is lovely overall.

Absolutely loved the Alice in Wonderland parlour, had an afternoon tea, it was delicious. It was different to a normal afternoon tea with its added extras. A real treat. Big shout out to Patrick, he was so helpful and friendly an absolute joy to be served by him, you are lucky to have him

Love coming to the secret garden for drinks . This time we had a hut which was really comfortable as the temperature had dropped and we were a little chilly. There was music with a great atmosphere. Staff friendly & helpful. Would definitely recommend.
