Village St David's

Village hotels always offer good value as they give access to facilities, the grills decent and the hotels are well located. Rooms well equipped, clean and the beds comfy, even the kids had a lie in!

Yesterday we visited the Village hotel for the first time for a 60th Birthday party, we decided to book a room for the occasion, £160 for a night, including breakfast. First impressions of the Hotel seemed good, we were greeted by self check in, very easy process we even managed to book a later check out without having to wait at the front desk. The main reception area is pleasant, good welcoming atmosphere. Signage could do with a little work as it was fairly confusing on how to get to the rooms. Upon finding the room we were very underwhelmed to enter what was basically I shoddy IKEA basic room, with no air conditioning, no fan, tea a coffee stains all over the self serve tea area, a faded stained sofa bed, frayed divan base, this certainly wasn’t the greeting you’d expect for £160 The overall feel of the room was poor maintenance, half hearted housekeeping and a general feeling that no one in the hotel actually cares for the building, Moving on to the bathroom, at first glance looked lovely, however what we thought was a screen protector on the lower part of the glass shower panel turned out to actually be a perfectly formed line of mould and mildew, the mirror had finger prints on, and hair clippings around the sink, I didn’t expect to have to clean my own room. Room aside, I approached reception, greeted by a fantastic members of the team, I requested a fan for the room, she advised me these would be prioritised for the upper floor, however she will see if they can find us one. Again you would think for £160 per night the Village hotel could accommodate each room with some method of cooling. Let now move to the part itself held in the inspiration room, initial impressions were good, but again attention to detail was missing, seat covers have holes in them, floors hadn’t been hoovered, and staff seemed to be very un interested, the bar staff were fantastic I can not fault them. Utterly professional throughout the night, other staff not so much. Buffet was lacking, the DJ played good music however didn’t do anything to attempt to get people to the dance floor. And allowed the atmosphere at the party to drop to that of a poorly run social club. Before spending your hard earned money have a good look around. We were so disappointed. We will not be coming back
