CRANAGE HALL

We booked a room for four nights, with family, our room was a deluxe room in the mansion house! At best it was a travel lodge room, which was another journey down the M6 to get to from Reception. It’s a long walk. It certainly wasn’t a mansion house room and wasn’t in the main house. Food was good. Staff pleasant. So much potential to be an excellent hotel, but definitely not De Vere standard. Pool does not have beds around the side to relax. There is a courtyard with tables which is more akin to a hospital outside space. To be honest very disappointed.

We stayed at De Vere Cranage Estate for a short weekend away and found it generally pleasant but with several things worth knowing before you book. The Estate & First Impressions The main building and grounds are beautiful and you really do feel like you’re arriving at a stately home. It’s worth noting that while rooms are available in the main house they come at a higher price. Most guests stay in the extension which feels far more like a Travelodge-style room than a country‑house hotel. Rooms We paid for an upgraded room but couldn’t see what the upgrade actually included. The room was clean and functional, but basic. Soundproofing is an issue. We were woken early both mornings by noise from neighbouring rooms and people moving around the corridors. On Sunday, a dog barking in a nearby room woke us again as the hotel is pet‑friendly which is great for some but definitely something to be aware of if you’re hoping for a quiet stay. Leisure Facilities The pool is a nice addition but you need to plan your visit to the pool around kids’ splash time between 3pm and 5pm. Staff All the staff we met were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. They were a real positive during our stay. Location The location is excellent. It’s an easy drive to Knutsford, where we spent two lovely evenings out. Where to Eat Highly recommend Stolen Lamb in Knutsford for fantastic Greek food, great atmosphere and very popular. Definitely book in advance. Overall A decent base for a weekend away, especially if you plan to spend most of your time exploring Cheshire rather than staying in the hotel itself. Just be prepared for basic rooms, limited soundproofing and the possibility of noise from pet‑friendly rooms. Staff are great, the location is ideal, and the pool is enjoyable as long as you plan around splash time.

Lovely old building and wondferul staff. Very welcoming. Dog friendly and enough land to take a dog for a stroll. Room 159 - Good night's sleep and great position to take dogs out. But no air-conditioning in bedroom ( there us elsewhere around the hotel). Bathrooms need completely refurbing. Would not stop us from returning though.
