HOLIDAY INN ELLESMERE PORT/ CH

Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port has a great location, and the on‑site parking is convenient, though the main car park was so busy that we had to use the overflow. Our arrival wasn’t the warmest — reception barely looked up when we approached, which set a cool tone from the start. The room itself was clean and a good size, but the double bed felt too small. The bar area was pleasant, and overall the hotel was tidy throughout. Breakfast was disappointing. On arrival, a staff member loudly instructed us to “sit on a 2 table,” which felt abrupt. By around 8:10am, more team members appeared, but mostly stood around talking rather than helping guests. Overall, the hotel is basic and would benefit from friendlier, more attentive service to match its strong location.

The staff are lovely at this hotel. Each member we interacted with were friendly and took an interest in our day. We managed to get parked fine. No issues. The hotel room is half way there to being a lovely place to stay, the windows are currently being refurbed I think, but the carpets look old and tired with several stains, I’d have brought this up if we had been there for longer than one night. The room was clean. Breakfast was pleasant with a nice view of the basin.

We had a lovely stay at the Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the canal. Breakfast was delicious, and it was especially nice enjoying it while looking out over the canal. Unfortunately, the toilet in our original room wasn’t working, but the team dealt with it quickly by upgrading us to the bridal suite and giving us two complimentary drinks, which was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel also has a swimming pool, although we didn’t have time to use it during our visit. The only small downside was that some areas, such as the windows, could do with a little TLC as they looked a little dated. However, this didn’t take away from our experience. Overall, we had a relaxing stay with excellent customer service and would definitely return.
