Empire Hotel

Great location. We had beautiful room but we’re disappointed with a few things. We had to complain about the towels left in our bathroom on two occasions. They were so old that they were in threads - cannot understand anyone even leaving them in the bathroom as they were worse than cleaning cloths. Very underwhelming breakfast. Little choice for anyone who doesn’t want eggs or a fry up. Extreme portion control on the buffet table & very little choice. No fresh bread or rolls just 3 slices of lukewarm toast delivered to your table as soon as you sat down. Public areas beautifully furnished and good onsite parking. Good hotel but not not great.

I’ve always wanted to stay at the Empire after walking past it years ago. We went for three nights in August with my husband, two older teenage children and my mum who is 80 and has mobility difficulties. We all loved the Empire. The staff are so friendly and keen to help. On the first morning, my mum didn’t want to come down for breakfast so she stayed in the room. The girl who came to tidy the room was so kind, she made her a coffee, had a nice chat and offered to help mum if she needed it. Really above and beyond care. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, I really enjoyed relaxing in the main lounge area with a drink. The drinks are reasonably priced too. Breakfast was great and cooked nicely. We had an evening meal on our last night. That was really good too. Three of us are vegan and there were options available. My husband used the gym and he said it was good. We used the pool area, the water was too cold for me but I’m a bit of a wimp but the other three liked it. My mum hasn’t been on holiday for more than 10 years, she was widowed a year ago and hasn’t been interested in staying away from home but she loved the hotel and the staff. She has talked about it so much and talked about going back and I am sure we will. Lots of repeat customers at the hotel and I can see why. I also left all my jewelry in the hotel safe by mistake. The staff were great about looking after it and we got it back safely.

We had another lovely stay at the Empire Hotel. Lovely hotel with brilliant family facilities. The indoor pool is heated (there is an underwater vent where you can actually stand and feel the warm water pouring in so no idea why some reviews say that the pool is freezing, this was definitely not our experience!) The jacuzzi is also heated. A few reviews have mentioned that the jacuzzi wasn't working but there is a blue button on the outside of the steam room which you have to depress to start the pool. Exactly the same for the sauna which has a heat setting on the outside wall. It's just a matter of exploring the area really! There is also a well kitted out gym and beauty treatment room. The staff are wonderful, well trained and very polite. Our room telephone wasn't working when we arrived, but this was rectified immediately. The breakfast is lovely with a good selection to choose from. There are 3 spacious lounges and a bar lounge. It is a very well established hotel in a prominent position at the top of Mostyn Street. Yes, it is a little tired in places, but so are many others we have stayed in. We would not hesitate in returning.
