The Old Farmhouse

I truly think this is one of the nicest clotted cream teas in cornwall it is all home made including the jam, perfect little tranquil gardens perfect little spot after a long walk from Gwithian to St Ives...

What luck! Having walked the coastal path from St Ives we were hoping to find a tea shop - we did even better. A perfect cream tea served in a beautiful courtyard garden safe from the rain under a covered pergola. If you visit make sure you venture into the workshops; the silversmith will happily tell you about this creative process - his pieces are exquisite; the pottery is equally lovely with a wide range to choose from. This was a real ‘find’.

Staying in nearby Carbis Bay we wanted to try the famous Cornish cream tea but didn’t want the all too often served jar of mass manufactured jam and mean packaged clotted cream portion. We searched hard and found the Old Farmhouse just down the road. Only open in fair weather (as tables all outside) we went on a sunny day and it was exactly what we wanted. Pretty setting, quality crockery (made on site), and 2 beautiful plain scones each, strawberry jam in a dish and generous dollops of gorgeous clotted cream. Not only that but a proper teapot and also a jug of hot water for a top up. We loved it. Heaven!!
